COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark chocolate in color, you can see a wonderful reflection if you hold it up to the light. It is round and soft with the warm, sweet aroma of freshly roasted malted barley. A satisfying, malty taste, with coffee-ish tones and a hint of plummy fruitiness in the finish. Complex and beautifully balanced.

Pours a clear, dark reddish-brown with a tall, beige head. Aroma is sweet cereal, chocolate, roast nuts, toast, wholesome thick bread crust, and hints of spicy, planty and floral hops. Flavor is chocolate, light roast, planty hops dusty toast and nice mellow toasted nut notes. Finishes a little sweeter with a hint of toffeed nuts, mild coffee, earth and chocolate. Palate is medium body has a neutral too lightly dry and syrupy entry, light carbonation and fairly dry finish. Good stuff, lots of flavor and chocolatey richness in a moderately light package.

Bittermäinen haju. Vähän savuakin jossain. Vähän löysä, mutta aivan mukava juotava. Tyypillinen illan alku.

Yksi parhaiten onnistuneista maistamistani müncheniläistyylisistä dunkeleista ja henkilökohtainen suosikkini. Mahtava tasapaino.

Chocolate, nutty, grassy, bready grains dominate the nose. Lovely deep mahogany brown/red with thin off-white head. More caramel sweetness comes out in the flavor which is joined by the aroma compounds above as well as an accentuated grainy maltiness. I get a grainy almost grassy flavor on the finish. Maltiness lingers a bit but very clean flavor, smooth, clean finish with perfect balance of bitterness to sweetness. It’s proof that beer doesn’t have to punch you in the face to be impressive.

UPDATED: FEB 5, 2015 500 ml bottle from Cost Plus. Dark, dark brown. Shows signs of clarity with a big, off-white head. Good lacing. Nose of toasty, fruity malt and yeast. Flavors of bread crust and light caramel with hints of dark fruit, plum and touch of raisin. Hops are hardly noticeable, maybe a touch of grassy spiciness. Residual sweetness produces a fairly heavy body feel. Finishes semi-sweet. All in all, an easy drinking lager beer with loads of flavor.

Malty beverage with lots of molasses on the nose. Rather thin body and all in all a little too watery. Drinkable but not entirely successful.

The most overrated beer in the world? Nowhere near to it’s 100 style rating. Very typical yet quite good and nicely balanced dunkel. Nothing special, good social drink.

Bottle from Getränkemarkt Fristo in Bamberg. The beer has got a deep dark brown colour with an steady low head and medium body. Aroma of malt and bread. Taste of roasted malt, old chocolat, leaves, woods, plums and barley. Malty finish. Solid beer, yet nothing very special or enjoyable.
