2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
On tap at Ayinger Speis und Trank. Aroma is very savoury, almost parmesan-esque. Pour is thick head on top of a dark translucent beer. Flavour is OK, with a little wood leading into the roasted malts. There’s a sharp finish I could do without.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
$3.59 bottle from Wine Warehouse. Pours a watered-down cola color with a large light brown head. I dd just shoot my nose up with flonaise, so my sense of smell may be off, but I’m getting caramels, honey, autumn leaves, light chocolate powder. Flavor is metallic caramel and honey mostly, something in there is burnt. It’s OK, but there’s also something in there I’m not loving. It’s the burnt whatever. Burnt sugar?
