tiggmtl (4178), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Mar 26, 2008 Lemon and vanilla overtones to the slightly lactic (yoghurt-like) aroma with plenty of sour wheat. Opaque yellow-tan body is topped by a generous, fizzy white head that recedes slowly to a fine bubbled partial cover. Spicy and floral notes are apparent initially but they are swept up in the lightly sour wheat flavour. Banana, clove and lavender are notable in the aftertaste. Bitterness is quite notable also. Light body is quite dry with fairly strong carbonation that keeps the sweetness and stickiness from overpowering. Tulip glass. Fridge temperature. Bottle (Brewery Creek, Mar-08).
blipp (801), Grand Island, New York, USA Sep 30, 2008 Bottle. Pours cloudy gold with a white head. Fruity sweet aroma of over ripe bananas and clove. The flavor is sweet banana, clove, and nutmeg. Very good. theisti (1084), Leawood, Kansas, USA Sep 30, 2008 500 ml bottle purchased at Beertopia in Omaha, Nebraska. Pour is slightly hazed yellow golden with a ton of carbonation bubbles. As the remainder of the bottle is poured, the beer is decidedly cloudier. There is a billowing 3 to 4 inch white head that crackles and pops as it falls, leaving behind a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is ripe sweet bananas, fresh cut hay and grainy wheat. Nice, soft, fresh nose. Also some nice floral aroma. Taste is the wheat, fresh and full, along with the banana and some clove taste that was not present initially in the nose. It all melds together quite nicely, and really typifies a solid German Hefe. Also some citrus present, which comes across with a really delicate sweetness that complements and accents the fresh grain and wheat. Palate is medium, fair amount of carbonation and a brief, clean finish. This was a nice one. hillfiiiiire (207), Atoka, Tennessee, USA Sep 29, 2008 Hazy yellow body with a finger sized white head. Bananas and hate in the aroma. Flavor is annoyingly flat, but what there is is sweet like a banana chip with hints of wheat and yeast. It definitely doesn’t feel as carbonated as the standard hefeweizen, which troubles me mildly. Overall, an okay beer though. rustychiles (474), Mesa, Arizona, USA Sep 25, 2008 Pours a light cloudy yellow with a active white head. Aroma of citrus and wheat. Flavor is yeast, wheat, and a touch of banana. The carbonation is very active and tingly on the tongue. Good refreshing hefe. heynik1885 (26), tonawanda, New York, USA Sep 22, 2008 Pours a cloudy yellow, with a big white foamy head. A strong citrus smell with a hint of wheat. Fruityness of beer gives almost a wine type taste. Full bodied beer, Some sweetness and yeast in the taste, excellent hefeweizen
