This is an outstanding beer. has a clean dry after taste and is very refreshing after a hard day of working in the heat

Not particularly blown away by the lack of fruitiness in this one. Finish has lots of spice, but this is more Belgian wit than German hefe.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 VENOM (941) - Connecticut, USA - APR 19, 2002
Cloudy dark straw with some yeast chunks. Whipped cream white head. Heavy rushing carbonation. Aroma of zesty lemons, musty yeast and cloves. Crisp and tart with a luscious wheat flavor. Medium light body. Banana/clove flavors and a lemony zip. Head remains thick and sticky. Gets tarter and thinner as it sits. Less Weizen and more Wit like. Finishes thinner with a surge of light clove flavor. A refreshing but pricey Helles Hefe. Good choice if you just want one.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 fraternie (754) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 12, 2002
Spicy and flavorful. A well-crafter wheat. A little thin with a bitter aftertase typical in a German wheat.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 estoppel (1028) - Buffalo, New York, USA - APR 2, 2002
Fairly dry for a wheat beer, although not the ’brut’ that the commercial description claims. Lingering spice, although, as Volgon says, too thin in the finish. Stick with the Ayinger Ur-Weisse if you crave wheat beer from Aying.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2003 Very impressive. Solid bodied with an excellent light flavor. They know how to make a good german wheat beer over there at ayinger.

Large white fizzy head, acidic and slight banana nose. Mild fruity taste, that ends too thin.

I guess I just don’t like wheat beers.

Deep golden color, hazy but not quite cloudy, good initial head that dissipates quickly, lasting carbonation. aroma is spice/banana. Flavor retains the spice and banana notes, and adds citrus, more tart than bitter. Very good overall for a wheat beer.

Probably the best hefe I have had. The tartness gives it something more than Paulaner or Pyramid. Enormous head! Huge! Nice cloudy gold with yeast floating within. Went down smooth with lots of sweetness turning to tartness in the end. Good work Ayinger! You make good stuff.
