Commercial Description:
Delicious lemon and vanilla scented wheat beer with yeast. This is an aristocratic beer with a champagne sparkle and a beautifully sustained head. With the pale color of mountain honey and tart refreshing palate, it is a "brut" beer with the delicious, complex fruitiness of extra-dry champagne. Bottle conditioned and top fermented, it is a benchmark for this style of beer. The nose is fruity-spicy, herbaceous with lots of flowers, and fruit. With such a creamy head, you can build miniature mountains that resemble the Alps. Pour slowly, fill the special weissbier glass half full and swirl the bottle on the table to put the yeast in suspension.

draught. tapped a cloudy yellow with white head. smelled like banana, citrus, and wheat. taste was lemony with a hint of light clove. had a very spritzy, astringent feel in the mouth. finishes dry. one of the better hefes that I have had in awhile.

Another perfect beer from Ayinger. This is just a flawless hefeweizen in my opinion. Delicious, smooth and creamy... doesn’t get better than this.

Poured a hazy yellow/orange. A creamy white head was on top, but it dissolved into orange swirls. Aromas of bananas and wheat. Taste was great, mainly of wheat, but there were some spices that worked very well with the taste.

Little aroma with a medium head. Hazy in the glass. Spicy fruit flavor Accents of banana. Wheat beers are not my favorite, but this one was pretty decent.

Bottle, bought @ Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg.
Pours a wonderful hazy pale yellow, leaning towards brownish oranges. A small creamy white head settles on top, but soon dissipates to a thin film. Lots of bubbles reaching towards the surface, maintaining the film. Aroma is wonderfully fruity and yeasty. Lots of banana, some cloves, some sweet apples. Mouthfeel has high carbonation, but still maintains a nice creaminess. Flavour is perhaps a bit underwhelming when considering the other wonderful parts, but it’s still very good! Banana, lots of wheat maltiness, some serious spices. But this sure is a wonderful hefe. A bit too sweet places it below both Maisel’s and Andechser in my book.

on tap. pours a cloudy dark yellow with a nice 11/2 finger fluffy white head. aroma is wheat and malt with banana and a touch of clove. has a medium body with good lacing and just right carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma but stronger. it also has a creamy mouth-feel to it. a very good hefe and maybe better that weinstephaner because it is not overly carbonated.

May 2007 - Cloudy straw color, nice bubblegum and what aroma. Thick, thick wheat base...I really like that! Lots of bubble gum and clove, but neither overdone. The only knock was that it was a bit overcarbonated.

[Bottle, thanks Guerde] Pours hazy orange with a big, white head. At first the aroma is completely dominated by yeast with banana more of a role player than the star. As it warmed, the banana did become more evident. The taste is banana up front, then yeast with a bit of a grain. Medium-thick mouthfeel. Finish is decent with banana and grain. Overall it is fairly good, but didn’t overly impress. I’m not sure on how old this bottle is though, and I’m sure the trip over from Germany doesn’t help it. Would like to try this fresh some time.
