RCL (1443), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Mar 8, 2007 Nice rich yeasty banana flavors, with hints of baking spices. Yet another superb brew from Ayinger. hombrepalo (726), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 8, 2007 This beer was smooth, tasty and went well with my steak. loved that it was easy to pronounce a German beer for once. Would want to see this beer more. jellybeanriot (27), Columbia, Missouri, USA Mar 4, 2007 This beer is everything a Hefeweizen should be. Pours a hazy pale gold. Aroma is incredibly fruity, spicy, pleasing. Flavor is similar, balanced with lots of fruit, citrus, wheat and spice. Very smooth, easy drinking. My favorite in the style. kkearn (994), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 24, 2007 On Tap at Drafting Room (Exton, PA) Served in a pint glass. Cloudy yellow with a small white head. Beautiful Hefe aroma with the expected banana, clove and wheat. Very crisp. Refreshing yeast and citrus balanced out with a bit of clove. Has always been one of my favorite hefes. cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Feb 19, 2007 Bottle from Plaza Liquor - Pours a hazy straw color with a good sze white head. Light lacing. Aroma is banana, spice, and light citrus. Flavor is banana, yeast, spice, and light citrus. A smooth, light to medium body beer. A very nice German Hefe. TomDecapolis (3127), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 18, 2007 Pours a hazy golden yellow with a large bubbly white head. Aroma of banana, clove, hintos of citrus, bready, grainy malts...overall a great Hefe aroma. Flavor of Hefe yeast with clove spiciness up front, citrus and banana along with it. Crisp, carbonated yet not thin like some in the style. One of the best I have had. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Jan 27, 2007 cloudy hazy staw color, with a good two inches of pure white creamy foam. Slight lacing after the head dies back to a quarter inch or less. Good banana in the aroma.
Nice sweetness and some tart lemon in the upfront flavor. Then the lemon fades completely and the sweetness turns to wheat and breadiness. Some underlying clove. A bit of spicy hops right at the end of the flavor. It finishes thin and a bit watery mansquito (819), Boston/Philadelphia, USA Jan 21, 2007 I don’t know if I was drinking the same beer as all of you, because this beer simply failed to impress me at all. It looks great, with a nice, big, long-lasting head and a cloudy light honey colour. But alas, I found the taste watery. It simply didn’t have as much flavour as other wheat beers that I had. What I did taste was all the good stuff, but not quite enough of it.
