Commercial Description:
Delicious lemon and vanilla scented wheat beer with yeast. This is an aristocratic beer with a champagne sparkle and a beautifully sustained head. With the pale color of mountain honey and tart refreshing palate, it is a "brut" beer with the delicious, complex fruitiness of extra-dry champagne. Bottle conditioned and top fermented, it is a benchmark for this style of beer. The nose is fruity-spicy, herbaceous with lots of flowers, and fruit. With such a creamy head, you can build miniature mountains that resemble the Alps. Pour slowly, fill the special weissbier glass half full and swirl the bottle on the table to put the yeast in suspension.

500 ml bottle

At just around $2.50, this was one of the better deals for a quality beer I have seen around. It almost rivals Capital’s Kloster Weizen for a favorite, except that I can get the latter fresher. Still, this one might just be a close second on price and quality.

Aroma / Appearance - Hints of banana, oatmeal, wheat, fruit and honey greeted my eager nose. The cloudy nectarine colored body had a rich two-finger head with active carbonation bubbling to the top. The pleasing looking brew looked like it was going to fit the bill after a long day outside in 90 degree temperatures.

Flavor / Palate - Creamy ripe bananas were the first thing to hit my taste buds. Muted underneath that was a combination of wheat, oats and a mild bitterness that hit the back of the mouth. A sweet, pleasant hoppiness followed not too long afterwards. The sweet banana taste dominated my impressions but it was not so strong as to mask everything else. This was solid all the way through to the end of the glass. It might become a nice summer drinker, especially at the price Woodman’s charges for it. Pick it up to get a feel for a well done hefeweizen.

Beautiful with big bubbled white head; Malt, soap perfect except for a little metal; Perfect body except from being a bit to creamy; Perfect finish except begin a bit malty, buttery.

Rocky crag floats on the beer, colapsing quickly under its own weight. Body is a strong cloudy tan orange. Nose is the classic clove and banana with a hint of corriander. The mouth is wheat wtih some clove and a nice hallertau freshness. Tounge fades fast with a residual spice.

Yeasty aroma, with a hint of spice and maybe a touch of banana. Initial taste is of slight clove and yeasty sweetness. Mouthfeel is excellent with a very smooth and full finish that tastes of banana, spice, slight fullness that remains.

As soon as I opened the bottle, I caught a rich banana smell and just assumed it was coming from something else in the kitchen... upon pouring, the smell was verifiable as the thick head formed. Bubbles rising to the top, the cloudy deep yellow appearance was a sight and the head didn’t subside until half way through, leaving only a ring of head round the edges. The aroma was bananas, citrus, cloves (much more spice than I was expecting), and a touch of yeast. The flavor was the same, but the mouthfeel was disappointingly thin. Sure, it’s summer and light is refreshing, but I wanted a little more. (Don’t get me wrong, I’d get another one of these in a flash, but...)

Bottle. Pale golden color, hazy, with huge white head. Terrific nose of herbal notes, yeast, sour citrus, wheat, and some bubblegum chalkiness. Creamy, full mouthfeel with very well balanced flavors of all of the above, slightly fruity toward the end, with a bit of a yeast bite in the finish. Drunk at room temp. This is darned tasty!
