rickgordon (3285), Göteborg, Sweden May 8, 2006 Bottled. Sampled at Delirium Café, Göteborg.
Almost clear golden colour. Wonderfully estery nose that brings a thick fruitiness, plus a little phenolic metal profile. Big flavour with loads of fruitiness in the sesters and also phenols. Low on Co2. Long flavour. This is hefeweizen! luvcasks (178), USA May 7, 2006 Aroma: So many layers... Yeast, grain, spices and fruity banana and some citrus
Appearance: Cloudy and a lovely straw yellow pours with a huge foamed milk like head which settles with lovely lacing down the glass
Flavor: Sweet wheat, with a slight sour and caramel notes, spicy and finishing with oh so there... banana and lemony flavor
Palate: Light bodied spritzy so that it dances on the tongue... fleeting thru sweet, spicy and slightly sour flavors leaving a lasting dry spicy and fruity finish
Overall: WOW! This is fantastic.... what all hefe-weizen’s want to be. Dont decide you dont like the hefe-weizen till you try this... well then again you cannot go back
I would like to try it on tap closer to the source and see how much better it could be. The bottle I tried seemed to have seen effects of some heat... pivnizub (4949), Bochum, Porúří, Germany May 6, 2006 Bottle: Hazy, yellow-orangey coloured, mid-sized fluffy white head, rather quickly diminishing; sweetish fruity nose: lemons, bananas, a bit grainy with a tinge of yeast; quite sweet flavour with a little sourish touch, fizzy but soft mouthfeel, medium bodied; short, fruity, a bit caramelly, a bit sourish finish. Quite well rounded, chewy Weizen....... HumbertHumbert (77), Denver, Colorado, USA May 6, 2006 Pours with a rapidly dissipating head and a meak, slightly fruity aroma. Flavor dominated by clove with some mild fruitiness and a watery mouthfeel of a bottle left open too long before pouring. Light and maybe refreshing, but with little tartness to cleanse the palate. bigcat03 (191), Lincoln, Nebraska, USA May 1, 2006 Updated: Jan 8, 2007Bottle from John’s Grocery - Lots of citrus taste; backtaste was a little spicey and wheaty; not heavy at all and goes down very easy; a very good hefe!
RE-RATE:
1pt .9oz bottle from Hy-Vee Liquors poured into weizen - Pours cloudy orange gold with a 2 finger sudsy white head; Plenty of wheat, banana, malt, floral hops, and a very slight hint of lemon to the nose; Banana, lemon, a little coriander, and yeast (which adds to the taste in a very positive way) on the initial taste; Spices (coriander mostly), very mellow lemon, bread backtaste; A fairly full palate; Not watery and not heavy, just right for a weizen; Refreshing carbonation that makes it smooth to go down for the most part; Revisiting now that I have a good system in place and have acquired a bit of a taste for different kinds of beer! Not what I remember. Much more complex. Definitely a good one and my favorite hefe that I can easily get my hands on. A standard that everyone should put their lips to. DuffMan (2719), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada Apr 29, 2006 Hazy honey coloured beer with a tremendous head that took several pauses during the pour so as not to spill. Once it settled, it formed chunky peaks and shapes before slowly fading. BIG aromas of banana, vanilla, wheat. Very smooth mouthfeel, with classic flavours of banana, citrus, and sweet spices with a wheaty-yeasty backbone. Silky finish. One of the best wheats I’ve had. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 27, 2006 Bottle 500ml sampled with Beerded one. Pours hazy golden with a large monsterous white head.
