4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
On the bottle, Brau-Weisse claims to be a "fruity, spicy wheat ale." That accurately sums things up. On the nose, Ayinger’s Hefeweizen smells like lemon, cream, and cloves. Those elements are featured heavily in the taste but there’s also some mild yeast, softer fruit flavors, and candy-like wheat malt. Do I even have to mention the appearance? Fine. Brau-Weisse is splendid to look at with its cloudy, layered body and pure white head. For people who love Hefeweizens with a soft yeast profile (and for people that love wheat ales in general) Ayinger’s ale covers all of the bases.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle. Pours a translucent yellow with a large, fluffy,, white head. Aroma has big notes of banana, clove, candy sugar, and a touch of farmhouse funk. Taste is balanced. Banana and citrus with a very slight spice and sugar on the finish. Medium body with a medium-high carbonation. Fairly clean in the mouth but very smooth with a nearly effervescent carbonation. Overall a tasty summer beer. Solid banana, citrus and spice flavours with a great mouth feel.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance- big big frothy ivory white head. Lasts and lasts. Not much lacing. Cloudy straw tinted yellow.
Smell- banana!!! Sugary scented wheat and barley. Clove. I loved the smell of this. It reminded me of the smells associated when visiting a brewery.
Taste- spicy, crisp, banana, slight citrus.
Mouthfeel- light, smooth, great balance.
Overall- a very good beer. I consider Schneider Weisse hefeweizen to be the gold standard. This doesn’t measure up, in my opinion, but it is a very solid beer. Nobody does it better than the Germans.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
A pretty damned delicious White style beer, this cloudy wheat-yellow quaff. In the scent, wheat, lots of spices such as coriander, cloves, light ginger and black pepper pop out as well as caramel and banana. This all comes out in the taste which also has some grass, citrus and floral hop-work happening. A lively but soft texture make this a very enjoyable Weisse-slice.
