illinismitty (1790), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jun 11, 2009 Bottle from Midtown. Pours a hazy orange amber with a huge white head, which is the typical appearance of a hefe. Aroma of citrus and wheat malts. Lighter side of medium bodied with a nice refreshing mountfeel. Flavor of pale wheat malts, citrus, banana, and pineapple, countered by a very subtle spiciness. Semi dry yeasty finish with some lingering clove. A little light on the sweetness and could use more banana bubblegum characteristics for my personal tastes- but then I have no idea how long this bottle was sitting on the shelves. Overall, a solid hefe and I am rather picky. thejon375 (390), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 8, 2009 Pours light yellow with thick white head. Aromas of bananas and pineapple and flavors of orange and lemon. Bubbly on the palate with crisp clean finish. Great summer beer. RasterMaster (120), , Oklahoma, USA Jun 7, 2009 Pale blonde pour into thick, pillowy white head that dissipates into a pool of bubbly foam on top of the glass. Carbonated bubbles rise into a ring of melting lacing. Aroma of yeasty bread and lemon citrus. Initial flavor of sweet malt with brief hints of banana bread in the finish. noompa (130), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 5, 2009 On tap @ the Map Room; hazy, murky dull yellow w/ a beautiful cream white head; aroma has clear-cut banana, cloves, bready-ness and a little citrus; flavors are more of the same w/ a little more sugar; extremely refreshing and easy-drinking- medium in the mouth. Very nicely done hefeweizen Narnad (682), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Jun 3, 2009 Tasted this at the Emmetts Tavern in West Dundee quarterly beer tasting. Pours a light cloudy yellow with a great head and high carbonation. Aroma is mostly cloves, light fruit note with a solid yeast and wheat presence. Flavor was pretty dull. Spices weren’t as prevalent as in the nose, almost no discernible fruitiness and yeast tasted as if it was an old bottle where autolysis might of started to kick in creating a dulled characteristic. Carbonation was great and very effervescent but I just wish the flavor was there for the bubbles to carry. brewski519 (395), Morrisville, North Carolina, USA Jun 3, 2009 From a bottle at The Flying Saucer. Poured a hazy yellow with a nice white head. Aroma of yeast, wheat, citrus and spice. Taste of banana and lemon along with cloves, yeast and some balancing malt. Tart, refreshing finish. Nice hefe. Cirrhosis (610), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 3, 2009 The beer pours a cloudy pale straw yellow and appears browner where the glass gets wider, the one inch of snow white head lasted almost the entire glass and left some nice lacing. I’m not sure if I got an old bottle or if this beer is suppose to be like this but the aroma was terrible, a very sharp sent what I can only describe as compost and a very strong sour cherry smell was coming from my glass. Luckily the beer tasted better then the smell. A chalky banana flavor with lots of smooth grassy malts, and a touch of citrus make up most of the flavor, there’s something a little off in the taste of this hefe. The more I drink the more bread I can taste, and as the beer warms more banana flavor comes out. I can’t decide if I like or dislike this beer, I think I’ll settle on liking this beer but not a great hefe and probably wont drink again." Savvy1982 (303), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Jun 1, 2009 Bottle. Pours a very cloudy pale yellow, with a huge, frothy white head that laces respectably. Nose is full of BANANAS!, sweet lemons, yeast, underripe stone fruits, and coriander. Palate is more banana, with the citrus and a very creamy mouthfeel coming into play. The banana and lemon become more candied as the beer warms, with the yeast and wheat both showing well. A cracking good hefe, though I would have liked a little more hop presence.
