3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Enjoyed from a 16.9oz bottle in a hefeweizen glass. The beer pours a just slightly hazy deep yellow, with a moderate to high white head. The aroma shows characters of banana, and a slightly husky grain note. The palate shows that same husky, tannin-like grain note up front, before some nice banana. Carbonation is assertive, but not a distraction. The beer seems to have held up really well, given the long and unintended aging time. The finish is quite dry, nicely fruity, and again carries a slightly grainy note. Overall, it would be wonderful to try this beer in its homeland, but an enjoyable drinking experience, just the same.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very hazy yellow with big fluffy head. Aroma is pleasing and the expected characteristics are all there. Though citrus scent is pronounced theres no lemon flavor which I prefer. Tartness on the tongue, but otherwise a real silky malted brew and quite light. Sweet fresh candy banana. A great example of the style.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Classic Bavarian Hefeweizen with thick, frothy, very creamy, lacing, beaten egg-white head and cloudy ochre blonde robe with peachy hue; lively bubbles rise up through the haze. Aroma of dried banana, lemon peel, freshly baked bread, clear soapy wheat, chamomille, fainter hints of cloves, almond, vanilla, stewed pear and kiwi. Soft, fruity onset, restrainedly sweet balanced by a soft, refreshing sourishness with some vague citrus peel accent, estery hints of pineapple, banana, green plum and sweet red apple, the latter still being palpable in the finish; soft but effective carbo, gently tingling, very ’fluffy’ and supple body as expected from the style, with both the lightly soapy and lightly sourish ’wheatiness’ and a sweetish, very bready ’barleyness’ working well together; soft clove-like phenols show up retronasally as expected, while hops are only present indirectly, providing a very weak and very brief bitterish touch in the end. Malty and wheaty finish with still that soft, subtle yet refreshing sourishness, with even a very subtle lemony touch to it. Very typical example of the style, technically perfectly executed as expected from this brewery, quenching and pleasantly aromatic the way a good Hefeweizen has to be: I would recommend this to anyone who wants to introduce themselves to the style.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Pours a beautiful hazy gold with a high, creamy, fine-grained, lacy, white head; that’s just pretty, that is. Nose is Meyer lemon, roses, fresh bread, cardamom, apricot, and starfruit. On the tongue, it’s...hell, it’s perfect. Every hefeweizen out there wants to be this. Sweet up front, with notes of lemon and honey, moving into fresh bread and lightly roasted grain and nuts. The finish is long, elegant, and just slightly sweet. When American breweries want to make hefeweizens, they should take a long nap and then wake up and drink a bottle of this. Then they should ask themselves, "Can I make a beer three-quarters that good?" If they can’t honestly say yes, they should move on to another style.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle Germany. Pours a nice clear light golden hue with a thin foamy white head. Lovely clean and classic German hefe aroma of wheat, toast, a bit of clove, and more wheat. Delightful wheaty and bready flavor with some toast, clove, and a clean German yeasty tone on the palate. Nice banana tones come in once you pour the yeast in. Exemplary brew and a benchmark of the style.
