4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: SEP 30, 2010 Bottled brought back from France never seen by me in UK. A fascinating aroma of fruit cake, petrol and alcohol. A very dark almost black beer with a fast diappearing tan coloured head. Wonderful taste with the oily alcohol and Christmas cake type spiciness coming through all in equal measures. Smells and tastes much stronger than it actually is. A very well brewed tasty beer.Score 4.5

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from zupan’s off burnside
Pour is thick and but not opaque, a great brown fall color to the beer.
First taste is surprisingly sweet, with balanced fig/cherry finish. I get lots of dark fruit and a tobacco dry chewiness throughout. Surprisingly alcoholic taste and smell for its BAC. Wonderful beer, lots of different flavors throughout, perfect to enjoy on a evening with a book or alone in thought.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark brown with a light brown, thick head. Aroma of malt and milk chocolate. Malt, dark dried fruit and molasses flavor with some soft roasted grain in a long moderately sweet finish. Noticeable alcohol even at the moderate 6.7 abv. Well constructed and balanced.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled, 0.33l. Courtesy of CanCrusher, thanks a lot! Pours cloudy dark brown with large frothy light brown head, poor lacing and lively carbonation. Aroma of caramel, biscuit, dandelion and dry fruits. Tastes of light sweet toasted malt with smooth and rich caramel and toffee following. Mouthfeel is pretty spicy, while finish is moderate grassy bitter. Full body, oily texture and soft carbonation in palate. Doppelbock, double pleasure...

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
330 mL bottle. The pour is a dark dark ruby, almost solid brown, with a little transparency and a nice thick foamy khaki head. The head fades quickly and leaves a ring around the edge. The aroma is pretty complex. An immediate light roast and caramel dominates with a soft dark fruit through the finish. The flavor is very similar. There is a nice bitterness on the finish that is very enjoyable in a good dopplebock

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Aroma of fruits, berries, charcuteries, and mineral, with hints of chocolates. Taste of chocolate, citrus, some metal, and hints of isterband. Categorized as a doppelbock, but I consider the 6,7% alcohol quite low and prefer the label "winter bock", as stated by the brewery.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle/ Pour a dark black/velvety. It is full bodied and sweet and bold. it is very fruity and maybe some molasses, figs, and small amount of burnt caramel(good burnt). The balance is good because maltyness exists too! The alcohol is masked well and there is just the right amount of hops.

The flavor is immaculate lots of sweet malts blended with some roastiness and caramel. A smooth yet slick mouth feel. No bitterness at all.
