4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Why oh why did I wait so long to try this stellar brew?! This brew poured up a hefty dark mahogany-colored body with a thick one-fingered tan colored with retention lasting long after the beer was gone and amazing lacing effects. Aromas of warm dark bread, caramel, molasses, malts and hops, and a very slight hint of alcohol. Of the doppelbocks, I am sure that this one reigns supreme! Medium-bodied, light carbonation, very thick and creamy with a well-balanced hit of hops on the finish that is dry but not too dry.

The flavor is immaculate lots of sweet malts blended with some roastiness and caramel. A smooth yet slick mouth feel. No bitterness at all.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle, pours clear nearly black dark mahogany with a large slowly reducing beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel and raisins. Taste of roasted malts, caramel, raisins and plums. Light sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium body, creamy texture and moderate carbonation. A great well balanced Doppelbock, though would have liked the body somewhat fuller.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
11.2 oz bottle into pilsner. Clear but nearly opaque dark brown with ruby highlights, minimal head, streaky spotty legs. Aroma is brown bread, molasses, caramel, hints of alcohol and herbal hop. Taste is super malty, with molasses, bread, and caramel. There’s a little hop bite and booziness on the finish. Full bodied, thick and creamy, low carbonation, lots of residual sugar, so not dry in the slightest.

Tap at New Bohemia. A deep, dark hue meets the eye complemented by an aromatic sweetness. Lacing clings well to the glass. A solid representation if a doppelbock and one you should seek out where available. Slight sour notes but balanced well overall. Definitely with celebratoring.
