teebradford (45), Senatobia, Mississippi, USA Feb 25, 2008 This is one fantastic beer. World class. Had it from a bottle with a cool goat around the neck. I’m not too experienced tasting dopplebocks, but this has turned me into a fan. Its dark. The head isn’t as thick as an ale or porter. It smells good, like honey and wood. The palate is a malt feast! The malt just explodes in your mouth. There is just too much going on to put it into words. Hops are here, but the subtle kind. This is a fine, fine beer. My only complaint is its expensive, but you get what you pay for I guess.
mesperon (27), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA Oct 11, 2008 Pours deep deep cola brown with no head (maybe too cold). Beautiful port-like aroma, wih roasted malt, and barely a hint of coffee and chocolate.. Slightly sweet, a little raisiny, and lots of alcohol. Mouthfeel is smooth, deep cich caramel taste that develops more on the finish. Just the right bit of bitterness to alance the caramel, hints of roasted malt. Delicious beer. pj1855 (74), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Oct 8, 2008 Pours a light brown. Excellent lacing. Sweet aroma. Excellent palate on this beer. Very smooth. Picking up some sweet brown sugar in the initial taste. xpimptastikx (24), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 7, 2008 Dark amber brown with a tan head. Malty with a raisin taste. Extremely rich, but easy to drink. Best Doppel I’ve ever had. nitsujcad1 (3), Bennington, Vermont, USA does not count Oct 7, 2008 Wow, tastes like grape juice, but this is a beer?! Very good taste and dark color. I would buy it more if it weren’t so expensive where I am. mcsquint (18), , Missouri, USA Oct 4, 2008 Poured from an 11.5oz bottlle. Dark brown with a bit of red when held up to a bright light source. Thick, longlasting, tan head. Aroma of malt with a hint of raisins. Very thick malty taste with a nice hop balance on the finish. This is my first experience with a doppelbock. I can’t imagine one that could be better.
