Celebrator has a creamy head of tight bubbles contrasting beautifully with its profound dark robe. It is full-bodied and velvety from half a year’s aging. Although it is strong, it is not overpowering. There is a wonderful and complex balance between the various malts, the alcohol and the subtle hops. A complex fruitiness of roasted malt and whole hop flowers make Celebrator great as a party drink with friends and family at celebrations. Despite its richness, it has a faintly smoky dryness in the finish.

This beer had a nice dark brown appearance with a 1 finger head. Aroma was prunes, nuts, and maltiness. Taste had the maltiness up front followed with a hint of nuttiness following up with the malt backbone again. Had a nice mediu.m mouthfeel. This beer did improve a lot as it warmed up in regards to these favors really starting to come out.

Bottle at home courtesy of mctapps, cheers Sabine
hazy peaty brown with tan lacing. Fruity prunes, sultana and milk chocolate. Lively carbonation, full bodied, sweet, dry, a little cloying and heavy, fruity, toasty notes, vegetal notes. Smells better than it tastes.

11.2 oz bottle, dark mahogany pour with beige lacing. Malt and honey nose. Figs, caramel, molasses, breads, sweet rasins, well blended and smooth. Big flavors, but easy to drink. Roasty dry finish.

I haven’t had many Dopplebocks but this is the beer that makes me want to have more. Damn it’s good. Oatmeal, roasted barley, burnt toffee, kibbles, leather, nuts and smokey tobacco come forth in both nose and wonderfully matching flavour. This fine specimen pours a colour akin to a watery dark roast coffee with a creamy tan head. The body, however, is quite rich and creamy with a nice smooth mouthfeel despite a light prickliness from the carbonation. A bitter bock that does it smooth as velvet.

Pours a dark brown color, topped with a fine tan colored head. Malty aroma, some fruits and caramel also present. Sweet, malty, caramel. Not my favourite.

Bottle. Dark red/brown body with a tall head. Aroma has a warm bready roast with all kinds of red berries. Silky smooth mouthfeel. Bready taste with a nice roast and pleasant hop bitterness. Chewy finish with more roasty bread. Great balance. So fulfilling. Maybe it’s because the timing is just right but tonight it feels almost perfect.

Dark brown/black in appearance. Tan head, sweet malty aroma with hints of caramel and raisins. Smooth taste with roasty sweet malt, slight coffee and hints of caramel, and raisins. Medium body, low carbonation. Low hoppiness, light bitterness. My favorite doppelbock to date.

Bottle from Mogwai Mat&Bar. Aroma of malts, raisins and dates. Pours dark brown with a small beige head. Taste is very sweet and full of malts. Palate, though, is very thin and drinkable. Overall a disappointment, heard much good stuff about this beer but I guess it is not my type of beer.

Very smooth caramel flavor. Excellent beer, one of my favorites along with Optimator. Only negative is that is more expensive than Optimator.
