4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: NOV 29, 2013 Draught beer in Pullman Helsinki. I really like this product. Very rich and full of flavours - all in balance. Very nice feeling in mouth. It was sold as Ayinger winterbock and yes, it is so far the best season beer. This is really a succesfull product and a find. +++
....year after. Yes, Winter is here again and so is Ayinger winterbock. To get it from draught is such a nice experience. You are so full of tastes, that I’m getting dizzy of it. Well done again. This years Xmas bock is even better than last year....

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark brown with reddish highlights and thin brown head that lasts reasonably well without much lacing.
Aroma is malt, nuts, molasses. On the palate, someone mentioned kvass and that’s an apt comparison. There’s toffee, bread, a whiff of licorice, a spot of buzzy heat and mild bitterness to usher it out.
For all that, it’s light and easy drinking, a deceptively simple balancing act. Good brew for a cold night without being overpowering.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
0,33 l bottle from craftbeerstore, bottled in december 2014. Clear, dark brownish red with a thin, creamy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Pleasant, sweetish-malty aroma of raisins, cane sugar and molasses. Sweetish-malty taste of raisins, nuts, molasses and cane sugar, followed by dark chocolate and a bit of coffee. Medium long, slightly bitter and minimally warming finish. Medium to full body, oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Tasty, intense and harmonic doppelbock. Nice chocolaty touch and not overwhelmingly sweet. But the best German beer? Not for me.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle from Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits - Muscatine. Deep brown appearance with ruby hues and a light, lacy tan head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, dark fruits, toasty malts, light floral and earthy hops. Similar flavor, complex, rich, malty, kind of vinous and lightly fruity with a touch of smoke. Moderately sweet and lightly bitter with a light dry finish. Medium body with a soft, creamy and smooth feel on the palate. A classic that I’ve been drinking on and off for years. Hard to believe I’ve never rated it.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Kris Wines. Awesome bottle, label and goat. Deep brown colour, thick white head. Superb beer, thick chewy malts, toffee, bread, licorice, slight tar maybe treacle. Balanced well, enough hop to offset any sweetness. Alcohol present but not intruding. Lovely, and even better drunk after a 4-0 playoff victory at Wembley. Come on you whites!

Finally got around to rating this one. From bottle at La Vache Folle. Dark brown coloured, with a light brown head. Nose is caramel, slight smoke, liquorice, bread, maybe a hint of chocolate. Flavour is caramel and toasted malts, dried fruits, bit of spices. Medium carbonation. Fairly sweet. Finish is bready, fairly sweet, toasted malts. Nice.
