RCL (942), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Aug 14, 2006 Without a doubt, my favorite doppelbock. Delicious blend of malts finishing with a whisper of hops. Highly recommended.
phildorsey (4), Lawton, Oklahoma, USA does not count Jul 4, 2008 chocolate, earthy, light brown head, cloudy, brown foam, full body, thick feel, long finish. The wait is finally over; i’ve had my eye on this beer for quite some time. It’s a beer drinkers beer! v64 (48), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 4, 2008 Pours very dark reddish-brown, strong burnt aroma, almost like Guinness. Slight bit of hops in the taste, mostly roasted flavors, like coffee and chocolate. Absolutely delicious beer, highly recommended. cellar (125), Dublin, Ireland Jul 1, 2008 Pours almost black, short lasting head, major notes of moked roasted caramalt and liquorice, minor notes of coffee, dark chokolate, overripe fruit. very sweet, sweet aftertaste, little bitter. I really enjoyed this :-) markwise (195), Orlando, Florida, USA Jun 30, 2008 This beer is a phenomenon. I don’t think you can talk about food and beer pairing without mentioning this beer. It tastes different every time I drink, depending on what I have eaten. The longer it ages the more chocolate character it takes on. The aroma is chocolate caramel and the character in the body is oily with notes of smoke and a bitter finish. I agre with Ethereal, though: you should just try it for yourself. Ethereal (671), London, Greater London, England Jun 28, 2008 330ml bottle at home, in celebration of retaining my job! Pours a dark, oily brown with little head. Nice malt and rye aromas on the nose and a great combination of malt flavours in the mouth. Hard to describe - you should just try it for yourself! Nice smoky dryness on the finish and it doesn’t feel too heavy given the strength. A very good doppelbock indeed.
