Delicious chocolate, very sweet raisin and dark fruit flavors, but mostly raisin. A little bit woody, but the flavors are somewhat light, as is the body/palate. Nice velvety carbonation though, and not incredibly sticky compared to other doppelbocks. An excellent easy drinking doppelbock, but I prefer those with more substance to match the rich flavor.

It wants to taste sweet, but the malt and hops counteract that very quickly. This is a good beer, but it seems to be filling. I don’t think I could drink more than two bottles in one sitting. Thick tan head holds well for a little while. Malty, melanoidin flavor that would go great with something salty. Alcohol heat not present, a little warming in the stomache. Fun beer to drink... Delicious medium body with discernibly roasted notes. Perfect for the style, nothing remotely offensive about this outstanding doppel. Excellent nose, excellent mouthfeel, excellent drinkability, excellent everything. Very smooth palate and nice malty flavor. Aftertaste holds on the roasted malt and leaves slightly bitter.

1st nose, it is hoppy, with 1 inch head.
1st taste was light and a bit fizzy.
Dry, soft, chocolaty finish.
End was kinda thickish.
Very good, and acceptable with steak, ribs, sausage.
Bought cold, let stand on table for a bit.
