Gusler (2656), Tucson, Arizona, USA Aug 7, 2002 Re-Rate 08/07/02: As deep as garnet gets, before it becomes brown, the head is generous, frothy, long lasting and tonnes of beige lace. Nose is malt, caramel, smoky, and maybe even a bit ’peatish’. Front has a molasses like sweetness, with a light to medium top, the finish is dry, nice hop bite, lightly carbonated and ’One Hell of A Good’ doppel bock. Ranks #100 on my current top 1000 beer list.
pj1855 (73), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Oct 8, 2008 Pours a light brown. Excellent lacing. Sweet aroma. Excellnt palate on this beer. Very smooth. Pciking up so sweet brown sugar in the initial taste. xpimptastikx (21), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 7, 2008 Dark amber brown with a tan head. Malty with a raisin taste. Extremely rich, but easy to drink. Best Doppel I’ve ever had. nitsujcad1 (3), Bennington, Vermont, USA does not count Oct 7, 2008 Wow, tastes like grape juice, but this is a beer?! Very good taste and dark color. I would buy it more if it weren’t so expensive where I am. mcsquint (15), , Missouri, USA Oct 4, 2008 Poured from an 11.5oz bottlle. Dark brown with a bit of red when held up to a bright light source. Thick, longlasting, tan head. Aroma of malt with a hint of raisins. Very thick malty taste with a nice hop balance on the finish. This is my first experience with a doppelbock. I can’t imagine one that could be better. keepersj12 (423), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA Sep 30, 2008 Oh this is a terrific Doppelbock. Aroma of candied fruits. Beautiful dark ruby red pour. Taste of fruits, malts some hops in the finish. Best example of the style I’ve tried.
