4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours blackish-brown, with a frothy head that thins quickly. A very full-flavored brew tasting of burnt malt, almost coffeelike, with a hint of fuitiness. An enjoyable beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a deep red colour with a nice looking one-finger tan head. Aroma of malts and hops. Taste is of malts, caramel, chocolate, spices, nuts and coffee. Sweet but with a bitter and slightly tart finish. Full body and average carbonation. Very interesting and quite good - could do without the tartness though.

Pours dark brown with a light brown head that is short-lasting, transforming into a light brown foam ring with some foam bubbles on the top. Aroma is smoke, hop resin, nuts and caramel. Taste is raisins, caramel, accents of smokiness with a slightly bitter and long finish. Full bodied and creamy.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
12oz bottle into a chalice. Pours a very dark brown with a slight tan ring of head. Nose is of roasted malts, plum, subtle hoppiness; rich and full bodied with dried fruit sweetness and caramel. Very slight sour note and a bit oaky on the finish. Complex, robust, warming. Simply gorgeous.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aromas are fairly subdued; a hint of sourness. Malts dominate with a touch of nuttiness. Hint of earthiness.
Color is very dark brown with a slight light tan head.
Taste is somewhat sweet, fairly light bitterness and some mild sourness.
Body is light to medium, texture slightly slick, carbonation just a bit below average. Finish shows carbonation and sourness.
Overall a decent beer but for my taste not a 4.0 beer. It’s a bit different and somewhat interesting, but there’s just not much that really grabs me.

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Poured into a tumbler in late 2013.
S: Chocolate, slight coffee, very malty.
T: Coffee dominates. Chocolate is there too. Some bitterness also.
O: This is a coffee bomb. I loved other doppelbocks, but the bitterness in this one was too overwhelming. This was sadly a drain pour.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a dark amber with a deep dark ruby cast. Excellent head volume, World Class lacing and retention. Light nose of molasses coupled with a bit of dark fruit (plum, fig) and a slight undertone of spice. Medium bodied with a nice smooth texture that has creamy aspects. Below normal carbonation with just a touch of effervescence in the finish. The World Class flavor profile is reasonably intense, very complex and superbly balanced. It begins with a wave of sweet malt that is, at first, caramel and slightly burned dark sugar then flows into a rich molasses. In the middle as the molasses fades, dark fruit becomes evident as does an ever so slight hop bitterness. The finish is a slow sweet fade with notes of alcohol.
