Draft from the barrel at the Speis und Trank in Munich. This was surprisingly flavorful to me, had a spicy character and noticeable hops lending a sweet overtone. Very flavorful while remaining light and easily drinkable. Very smooth and creamy in the mouth. Aroma was mild with sweet malt mingling with noticeable hallertau hops. Appearance was hard to judge being in a stone stien, but had a big foamy white head.

From a barrel at the Munich, Ayinger tap 0,5ltr: Just like the kellerbier, but easier on taste.

Beer 60 Summer 2006 trip in Europe. Drank on 7/11/06 at the little restaurant next to the train station in Aying near the brewery. Decent overall brew.

Draft from the barrel. My favorite munchen style helles with the perfect balance of sweet, malt, hops.

UPDATED: JUL 14, 2007 I found the aroma to be almost non existant. Perhaps my chilled glass inhibited its aroma. the taste was sweet and crisp and a smooth finish. This is a very good helles.

Clear golden with a creamy white head. Aroma is very grainy, with some light nutty/spicy hops. The flavour is very grainy, overpowering the slight toasty caramel and fruit flavours. Also quite fizzy. The grain continues right through the finish. A little unbalanced but not unpleasant.

Fully clear bright gold; huge, dense white head as whipped eggwhite. Grainy, milky, lactose, chalk and a spicey overlying aroma - nutmeg or mustardseed. Clear grainy taste, the sweetness of the malt masked by unobtrusive but sufficient noble German hops. There’s a fruity flavour, but more remindful of dried fruits in muesli (without feeling physically dry) or a dry fruitwine. Finish again slightly lactic. Surprisingly well-filled MF; grist, grain, certain porridge-like hints. Seems to have some alcohol in the finish, surprising for such a Vollbier. Excellent Vollbier - German equivalent of a session cask. Has absolutely some white wine-like characteristics. Danke schön, Sebastian!
