500ml bottle (as Lager Hell): poured into a Veltins badged stemmed tulip three times at home on 15th June 2015. Taken with a bowl of Dal Makhani, a highly spiced lentil dish from India. Very light gold, clear, clean and bright: white head refused to hang around on any pour. Fairly malty sweet in nature the hops playing second fiddle throughout. Accompanied my meal ideally and would have been just as good sat outside in the sun: refreshing and easy to drink. Do not pretend to say this is tasty and full bodied, but for the style it is a fine beer.

On tap at Ayinger bar Munich. Crystal clear gold colour lasting white head. Bready aroma. Clean in the mouth with a decent kick of lemon and bitterness on the finish. Ayinger were my favourite brewery last time in Munich and that position has only been cemented. Super clean drinking helles.

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2015 On tap at Ayinger Bierstuberl and bottled. Gold color, clear, big candid white head. Aroma is pleasingly malty/cookies with hay and soft floral hops and a woody note. Floral, fresh. Taste is smooth, properly balanced, clean finish a bit dusty. Average carbonation. Finish is slightly sharp, very subtly sourish with is something i like in lagers as they get very thirstquencing. Excellent helles, ultra clean. Bottled, quite old (bbd feb/15, rated 31.1.2015) doesn’t lose its grip.

Also tried this at the daily 5PM "bier von holzfass" (wooden cask) at the Ayinger Braustuberl. Malty and full round taste, less carbonation and maybe a light woody hue. Creamy head, smooth sweetish malty taste, easy to drink, lovely.

BOTTLE 50 CL. The beer is malt and grain dominated, just a bit of sweetness, a faint but warm hoppy aroma that seems salty/savoury and at times even a tad smoky. The body is quite solid for a lager. Some residual malts and very light hops in the finish. Nice.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours golden with fast diminishing white head. Quite dry, well carbonated, average helles. Bit boring.

I wanted to try their famous Doppelbock, but the bottleshop only had the lager. Oh well. Herbal and floral aroma, taste has some hoppy bitterness, with a bit of a buttery aftertaste in the finish. Very mild and very easily drinkable, without being too watery - a perfect beer for getting drunk at parties. For the style it’s really, really good, actually.

Draught @ Ayinger am Platzl, Munich. Pours a golden colour with a small foamy head. Aroma of grainy malts, bread and some sweetness. Flavourbof strong grainy malts, fresh grass, some mild herbal notes and mild sweetness. Light bodied. Dry grassy finish. Simple and refreshing.

Dennoch lecker!
