In der Nase Getreidenoten, etwas muffig, pappig. Mild-süßlicher Antrunk. Mitte mild-süß, kaum Herbe. Abgang verhalten würzig und moderate Bitterkeit. Trinkbar.

TAR (2650) - Marshall (Asheville area), North Carolina, USA - OCT 15, 2012
Gravity cask at Ayinger Speis und Trank, Munich: Color indeterminable (served in a ceramic mug). Persistent silky white foam. Inviting spicy hop nose with a mild note of tea, licorice and earthy malt. Very rustic. Soft, natural, tiny-bubbled carbonation. Opens with a snappy cookie and dusty yeast signature which sits atop a crunchy mineral backbone. Malt is crackly, though considerably deep with a bouncy cookie edge which shows good melanoidin girth beneath the earthier and snappier straw notions. Intriguing dollop of creamed coffee entwined with a hazelnut earthiness, ensues. Splash of fresh peach and a dab of cotton candy adds further mystique, as does faint plum skin, with delicate acids and all. Loads of dry malt augment the through-the-roof quaffability. Plentiful sassy hop spice is sprinkled throughout. Closes nicely hoppy with intricately-woven earth and spice elements which beautifully match the snappy and gently earthy, bitter edge of the Munich malt. Perhaps a wee bit thin, but overall a very juicy, well-balanced example with tremendously soft and fine carbonation. Drinks much more like a kellerbier than a helles, as the hops are more spicy than herbal/floral, the dark malt is rustic, and the yeast quite dusty. Would gladly make this my everyday drinker.

500ml bottle. Aroma is hay, grass, citrus. Appearance is pale golden with a nice white foam. Taste is light sour and sweet but mostly bitter. However, very light in all tastes. Has a strong carbonation and feels very refreshing. Overall a very nice Helles.

Bottle. Lovely drinkable and well balanced lager. Nice clean and bready malts. The hops are flowery and the finish has got a moderate thirstquenching bitterness.
