COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formally called Kirta-Halbe. In October, each year we celebrate Kirta-Halbe. 1999 was a very special year because we opened our handsome new brewery and Beer Adventure on October 15, one day before Kirta-Halbe. Our Ayinger Kirta-Halbe label, by Dieter Hanitzsch shows Bavarian Minister President Dr. Edmund Stoiber with our own Bräu von Aying, Franz Inselkammer in front of the new brewery. For the opening, Mr. Stoiber addressed more than 1000 friends, customers and community leaders .

On tap. Pours a med. amber with a long lasting white froth. Nice lacing. The aroma is freshly baked biscuits along with a really nice spicy hop note. The body is med. with a good level of CO2. The flavors are soo smooth. Lots of caramel and toast. Some spice but the malt plays the main role here. What a beer. What a condition to have it. Amazing. I wish I could brew a marzen this good.

Bottle from Rehills of Jesmond. Pours hazy amber with a cream coloured head. Mild fruity aroma. The taste has light spice and toasty malts. A light fruitiness too. OK.

UPDATED: APR 12, 2016 Draft at Brauhaus Schmitz. Billed as "Ayinger Kirta-Halbe" but seems to match up here. Hazy orange amber pour with a good amount of meringue white froth on top. Medium roasted caramel malts with a bit of citrus hops. Notes of tangerine, brown bread, celery hearts, pumpkin seeds and Cheerios. Well rounded. Well rounded. Easy drinking. Pleasant juicy marzen.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours slightly hazy deep orange amber. The yeast wasn’t exactly sticky so hard to tell whether it would have been crystal clear without. Moderate offwhite head subsides. Nose of bread, biscuit, rich malt, slight metallic. Slight perfumey noble hop. Tastes moderate sweet malt, brown bread, slight caramel, savoury maillard notes, biscuit, light bitter, touch more perfumey hop, again a tinge of metallic. This bottle’s 10 months old but may not have been stored cold... Medium body, clean, no esters, crisp malty finish, medium carb, slightly creamy. Ok, would like to try fresh.

500ml bottle ’Kirtabier’ from beers of Europe. Poured carefully into an old Wolnzacher Brauhaus tall, handled glass tankard at home on 10th Jan 2016. Slight haze to the dark, dull orange coloured body: on top a full and deep foam blanket. Light malty nose and flavour, semi-sweet with a mini bittering finish. Decent enough, it’s a long time since I had an Oktoberfest bier. I must try to find them more often when they are available/around.

Tap@5p. Amber orange, light hazy. Malty dry fruity nose. Some dried orange, earthy malty, quite clean though. Med bodied, flavourful, malty slight huskey. Dry toffee, light syrup. Ok malty german beer. Well made, feels traditional, pure etc.
