Commercial Description:
Ayinger Oktober Fest Märzen has a deep golden color tinted with amber. It is lightly sweet with a malty nose balanced with floral hops. Its medium to big body and alcohol is not overpowering. The soft dryness comes from long maturation.

Aroma is toasty and rather bready. Pours out a burn orange with almost no head. A grainy flavor that continues the bread aroma. Body is light with a smooth light finish

Beer from Gilly’s Beer and Fine Wine in Rockville. Nice appearance, solid aroma. Flavor is good for an oktoberfest, but maybe that’s not my favorite.

Poured a apricot color, with 3 finger with head, that is pretty frothy but looks to light to hang around too long. Aroma =has a bit of an earthy smell, can detect a little spice in it, but aroma is pretty weak overall. Taste = Wonderful malty backbone, getting a sweet, light peachy flavor in this, and a toasted bready flavor also. This is a really exceptionally smooth, clean beer, feels light on the tounge. Overall, this is an exceptionally good oktoberfest, possibly even my favorite so far.

Poured from half-liter bottle. Sweet malt aroma. Clear, golden. Bubbly with thin head. Flavor is roasted malt and sweet malt. Dryer than most oktoberfest beers I’ve tried. Mellow, floral hops in back. Crisp and clean. Nice stuff.

Bottle courtesy of Sam at Hangar 24. Rating #729. Nice dark gold pour with a white head. Had a light toasted aroma, lots of graininess and slightly sweet, pretty good octo overall. (1039)

Poured from bottle into Frankfurter glass. Light orange-copper with moderate white head that disappears leaving no lacing. Aroma of sweet fruit, caramel, biscuit and metallic bitterness. Semi-sweet toasted malt with caramel, biscuit and fruit in the background. Ends on a spicy bitter note, more so than most Marzens. Moderate carbonation, medium body, only semi-dry. A solid Marzen overall. A little sweeter than Paulaner and not quite as good. While a decent brew, I honestly expected more.

Weak corn aroma. Clear amber, thin white head. Cheap malt flavor with a marigold finish. A poor showing for an authentic German Octoberfest.

Bottle. Hazy amber body with a large, frothy, off-white head, mostly lasting. The aroma is mostly malty with strong notes of sweet caramel and lighter notes of toasted bread, flowers and peach. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter and lightly acidic. Medium body with a creamy texture and lively carbonation. The taste starts malty sweet, crisp, clean and turns nicely bitter. Nice balance. Excellent Oktobefest.
