Ayinger Oktober Fest Märzen has a deep golden color tinted with amber. It is lightly sweet with a malty nose balanced with floral hops. Its medium to big body and alcohol is not overpowering. The soft dryness comes from long maturation.

Nice yeasty aroma. Pours copper with a white foamy head. Lightly sweet flavor, a bit bready. Overall very pleasant beer.

From the bottle to a glass. That Euro-lager aroma is dominant, but I STILL can’t place a comparison. The best I can describe it is damp earthy rocks near a freshwater body of water. No moldy scent, just damp, cool, and fresh. Taste is fresh with some sweet notes here and there. There is just the slightest, and I mean slightest touch of banana candy. Overall, an excellent lager. I love it. Re-rate notes: Just want to add that no matter what the style, the Bavarians do the best brews.

500 ml bottle. It has probably been sitting for about a year. pours a light copper with a small/average white head. aAoma has hints of apples ,some fruit and spices. Favor is about the same with mild bitterness. Very sweet. I.m not the biggest lager.marzen fan,but this one was good.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2008 Pours amber, moderate head. Smells very sweet. Delicious flavor, sweet and malty. Some hops slightly come through in the background. Leaves a sweet aftertaste. Great all around Maerzen, very drinkable.

Clean, delicate malt aroma. No diacetyl or hops in the mix. Medium golden color, crystal clear, though minimal head and poor retention. Flavor is similar to the aroma - delicate maltiness, some toasty notes, no hops or diacetyl. Carbonation is a touch high, but not so much as to make it unenjoyable. Overall, very tasty brew, well made and enjoyable.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2007 Pours an orange copper with fluffy white head that seems to last a bit. Smells of honey oat, sweet hay, and maple leaf malts. Tastes of sweet honey oats, slight maple leaf, and almost an ethereal peat malt taste. Nicely complex and dapper. This is what Oktober Fest is supposed to taste like.

Poured into a tulip. Huge head...a good 1.5". Smells very sweet with honey and citrus. Maybe even some butterscotch in there. Perfect golden color. Very well balanced....a little sweet and a little bitter. Strong copper note...like I was sucking on a penny...but not in an overly bad way.

Aroma is caramel and aromatic malt along with a little banana bread, very good aroma for a lager. Taste is a restrained smooth bitterness with a touch of caramel sweet malts and the delicious oktoberfest yeast flavor you’d expect. This is a really good oktoberfest.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2014 Pours a beautiful golden orange with an off white head. The "picture perfect" beer when it’s sitting in the glass. Decent retention, not much in the way of lacing. Taste of toasty malts, bready, a little mild hoppiness, and a bit of a caramel sweetness as it settles on the palate. Great finish. This is hands down the best Oktoberfest/Marzen style beer out there. Just a perfect example of the style in my opinion. Love it.

Pours amber with white thick airy head that thins. Very good amber ale, with smooth finish.
