COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ayinger Oktober Fest Märzen has a deep golden color tinted with amber. It is lightly sweet with a malty nose balanced with floral hops. Its medium to big body and alcohol is not overpowering. The soft dryness comes from long maturation.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2014 Love the bottle design and the fact that it’s a pint bottle, which I think more beers should be because I have pint glasses that I want to fill up! Pretty biscuity and fairly creamy palate, which is nice. The aroma is definitely better than the actual taste, but they compliment each other nicely. I’ve drank this both out of the bottle and in a glass, and out of the bottle it is actually surprisingly bad!

Pours a clear, copper-golden color with a large light tan head. Some carbonation bubbles migrate from the bottom. Sorghum and Christmas pull candy on the nose. Puffy mouthfeel with a slight burn on the rear of the palate. The bitterness profile cuts the sweetness expected from the aroma. It imparts a fruitiness where the sweet pull candy and sorghum would’ve otherwise dominated.

It has a rich deep golden color with very good clarity and some nice carbonation flowing up to the head. The head has a creamy off white color and rises up tall in the glass before slowly settling down to a nice foamy cap. In the nose there are some sweet bready and light toasted notes with light grain and some floral/spicy hops. The flavor has a very enjoyable malty character. There is mild sweetness, bready and light toasted grain notes, pie crust and very light caramel notes. This is balanced by some mild bitterness and notes of spicy/floral hops. The hops turn more leafy and mineral like in the finish which is crisp and refreshing. Its body has a solid medium to full feel with well balanced carbonation.

A great beer for an excellent price! Once in awhile it pays to go to the source of excellent beer!

500 ml bottle at home from notes 2011. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor were malt forward with doughy bread, caramel, some fruitiness, mild floral character with a dry lightly toasted finish. Solid Oktoberfest.

For the style, this is about as smooth and flavorful as this beer can get. Ayinger’s brew is rich, malty, and sweet. However, there’s a bit of hoppy spice to give this brew a crisp, clean finishing note. As drinkable as it is beautiful, Oktober Fest-Marzen is a fantastic option for bratwurst and rich meats.

Bottle. A- Caramel, malty. A- Copper color, clear liquid, white head. T- Malty, spices, subtle burnt caramel. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- One of the best Oktoberfests out there that I have had. Lots of spice and heavy malts.

Pours a nice clear copper color with off-white head. Caramel malt, floral notes, and some toffee notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a good amount of malt.

500 ml bottle. A dark gold beer with a big, thick creamy head. Malty aroma with hops and caramel. Flavor is slightly sweet with malt, caramel and a little hoppy dry finish. Not bad.

Oh, is this splendid. Let’s start with the scent. Beautiful burnt malts. It follows through in flavor. This is a malt-heavy beer, and it is stunning. Just stunning.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a cloudy golden copper colored body with a two finger white foamy head that gently dies leaving a lacing that coats the sides of the glass. The smell had some toasted breadiness and slightly earthy graininess. The taste was sweet and toasty and earthy, slightly earthy malty aftertaste and a dry mild malty finish. On the palate, it sat about a medium, and was semi-sessionable. Carbonation is good for the style and for me (somewhat smooth yet satisfying). Overall, this was a wonderful Oktoberfest style beer, but of course it is, it’s comin’ from where it was originally developed - my motherland.
