COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ayinger Oktober Fest Märzen has a deep golden color tinted with amber. It is lightly sweet with a malty nose balanced with floral hops. Its medium to big body and alcohol is not overpowering. The soft dryness comes from long maturation.

Pours a beautiful copper color w/ a medium semi creamy froth leaving a dusty layer on top. Aroma is balanced malt and hop. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. Flavors are fruity w/ a nice malty backbone. Just enough hops to sustain a perfect balance. No annoying grassy hay aromas or flavors. Smooth w/ a crisp finish. Highly recommended.

This is THE best Oktober Fest-Märzen I have ever had. There is no other. Smooth and sweet. This is the one beer you can’t get enough of. Whatever these brewers did, they did it right!

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2011 i love this brew and look forward to seeing it every autumn. Pours a beautiful golden/copper color with a great head. Malty and bready but not sweet, just as a great fest beer should be. Finishes clean. This is my favorite Oktoberfest beer!

In a beer drinkers life, this is the best beer I’ve ever had. It was superbly balanced, square in the palate and aeromatic on the finish. I couldn’t believe it when I was drinking it.

What a great lager. The fresh, live, citrusy flavor is exquisitely judged. And quite the kick on this baby! Terrific brewing.

If you want this beer, this is the time. Just off the boat, the beer was super fresh, had outstanding head retention and aroma, which is sometimes unusual for German bottled beer. The head stayed to the last drop, like it should. Malt flavor ranks right up their with the Paulaner/Hacker bunch. This beer is why Ayinger is one of the best and why Fall is my favorite beer season.

UPDATED: SEP 9, 2010 Draft at Kahdet Kasvot. What a magnificently tasty malty-grainy-toffee, superbly attenuated, crisp and satisfying pint of liquid bread. If only other lager brewers could so consistently pull off such a flawless libation.

500 mL bottle, pint glass. Gigantic, frothy, off-white head is mostly diminishing. Beautiful orange body appears to be of medium consistancy. Hazy appearance from tiny, dense particles. Slight caramel and apple aroma. Yum...candied apples. Flowery hops and doughy yeast aromas. Flavor starts mod. sweet / mod. bitter and finishes mod. bitter with no acidity. A note of honey arrives in the finish. Light carbonation accompanies a watery body with a light / medium consistancy. Flavors are pleasant, but too subdued.

Rerate: 9/7/03 Rerating with an in-season bottle. The big difference here is the malt. Much bigger malt with a fresh bottle. Old rating was (7,3,6,3,12=3.1).

UPDATED: JUN 14, 2004 Big white foamy head out of the bottle, a little lacing. Liquid Gold in color. In my opinion, not as good as Capital Fest or Leinenkugel Oktoberfest. My Opinion. Smooth drinkable marzen very tasty. I like it.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2003 This beer is so good it was so fresh. I had it off a keg at a festival. Really enjoyable. Golden in color. Little sweet. Well balanced by malt and hops. Not a overpowering beer. If you are a fan of the fall and octoberfest, then get this beer.

500 mL bottle. Thought I loved Sam’s Octoberfest, but it doesn’t compare as far as flavor profile. The depth of flavors in this Marzen is incredible. I’m ready to go to Germany now for the real deal. Can’t even describe in words. Wish it was easier to find around here. I had to order it through my bar and make it the beer of the month, but they ran out after I got my first and only case. Will start earlier next year.
