COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ayinger Oktober Fest Märzen has a deep golden color tinted with amber. It is lightly sweet with a malty nose balanced with floral hops. Its medium to big body and alcohol is not overpowering. The soft dryness comes from long maturation.

I give a bigger rating to this beer based on it’s style. For an Oktober, it’s unbelievable. For a great beer, it’s ok. There’s a nice malty aroma, as with most oktobers, with a nice crisp taste. Very suprising, for the style. This gave me a greater respect.

Draught @ Kaunis Kampela, Helsinki. Burnished gold color, thick white head. Malty aroma with some wood. Smooth malty flavor with noticeable bitterness. Not a bad märzen at all, but somehow the flavor didn’t entice me completely.

Light color for the style with a nice retaining head. Aroma and taste of malt and crackers, less sweet and caramelly than others. Hints of roasted malts.

Bottle courtesy of Sam at Hangar 24. Rating #729. Nice dark gold pour with a white head. Had a light toasted aroma, lots of graininess and slightly sweet, pretty good octo overall. (1039)

Hmmmm....I think I like Paulaner better. This just seems to light and watery for me. Nice caramel hint though. Definately not bad, but not one of my first choices.

Rated 9/22/02: Pours a somewhat cloudy amber color, the head is frothy, voluminous, the lace in large sheets. Malt nose, front is lightly sweet, the top is light, the finish is nicely hopped, a bit dry, light to moderate carbonation. A decent drinking beer, not great, but good. Ranks #899 on my current 1000 beer master list.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2014 Pours with an abundant white, creamy and rocky foam. Subdued aromas of apricot, caramel, and toasted bread notes. Medium-full palate. Toffeeish firmness is lacking slightly. Notes of peach, straw, prunes, and potent residual sugars. Decent.

Pretty good. Cloudy amber color. Not enough hops to overwhelm the sweetness. Big malty flavor.

Nice thick head that does not last long. Slightly acidic aroma with hints of tomatoes, hops and malt. Nice deep amber color with ok carbonation. Body is a medium. Flavor is slightly sour with hops, malt presence. Alcohol is also not present in the taste. Finish is slightly bitter and coats the mouth without being creamy. An ok beer but a little too acidic for my tastes.
