COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ayinger Oktober Fest Märzen has a deep golden color tinted with amber. It is lightly sweet with a malty nose balanced with floral hops. Its medium to big body and alcohol is not overpowering. The soft dryness comes from long maturation.

I give a bigger rating to this beer based on it’s style. For an Oktober, it’s unbelievable. For a great beer, it’s ok. There’s a nice malty aroma, as with most oktobers, with a nice crisp taste. Very suprising, for the style. This gave me a greater respect.

Draught @ Kaunis Kampela, Helsinki. Burnished gold color, thick white head. Malty aroma with some wood. Smooth malty flavor with noticeable bitterness. Not a bad märzen at all, but somehow the flavor didn’t entice me completely.

Light color for the style with a nice retaining head. Aroma and taste of malt and crackers, less sweet and caramelly than others. Hints of roasted malts.

Bottle courtesy of Sam at Hangar 24. Rating #729. Nice dark gold pour with a white head. Had a light toasted aroma, lots of graininess and slightly sweet, pretty good octo overall. (1039)

Sampled in a big bottle. A really nice crisp marzen. Really liked it. It has very present but not overbearing hops and quality barley malts. Nice brew.

Pours a beautiful amber with nice froth on top. Smells grainy with slight Euro-funk underneath. The taste starts sweet, heavy on buttery banana, then dries out in the middle, gaining a grain-laced nutty roastiness. The finish stays slightly sweet, but the brisk carbonation limits what the flavors can achieve. Decent, but too imported for my tastes. (9/08)

Clear amber pour, some white head. Malt forward with the right amount of hops to help balance it. A typical German brew that is well done.

500ml bottle. Clear orange color. Thin off-white head. Continuously ascending bubbles int he body. Some loose lace. Stronger carbonation, at first. Nice toasty caramel malt aroma. Smooth, some spice. Some fruitiness. Light sweet, light bitter taste. One of the more enjoyable German festbiers I’ve tried. Love the 16.9oz size, great to enjoy with a sandwich.
