The dry bitterness of classic pilsner makes this a perfect, pre-dinner drink. Although we borrowed the style from Bohemia, our pils is classsic Bavarian, made partially with barley we grow ourselves, a blend of fresh Hallertau and Tetnang hops and our unique St. Andreas mineral water. The vivacious color is reflective of the barley fields that surround our brewery. The head is light and thick and leaves a beautiful Bavarian lace on the empty glass. . In the mouth, our pils achives balance and roundness, without the hops overpowering the fruitiness of the malt.

33cl Bottle. Appearance is clear, golden yellow color with medium, foamy, off-white head. Aroma is grainy, sweet malts and grassy hops. Taste is similar with a strong grain and sweet malts, some hay, up-front grass hops. Palate is medium-bodied, slick texture, lively carbonation, slightly acidic, and a long, dry finish. Definitely a top-notch Pils in a sea of mediorcity.

(Draught at St Urho’s Pub, 20111101) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had grass, grain and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, grain, malts, mild sweetness and medium bitterness. Aftertaste was grassy, bitter and mildly malty. A basic pils with nice hops.

500ml bottle pours pale golden color with a small white head and some spots of lacing. Aroma is light grains and floral hops. Taste is light malty sweetness and a crisp modest hoppy bitterness. Decently balanced and carbonated with a light to medium body. Average brew that is easy to drink.

On tap at a random al fresco stop during our Munich wanderings. Clear bright yellow gold, thick lasting white crown. Aroma is pleasant grassy floral hops and cereal grains. Palate is clean and fresh, light cereal accented by fragrant grassy floral hops delivering a medium bitterness in the finish. The best lager of the journey at this point.

An above average flavored brew. Not going to knock your socks off, but an easy drinker, very session able.

Clear golden colour, white head. Fresh malty aroma, quite floral hops. Flavour crisp malty, slight hoppy bitterness, fruity and floral notes. Finish light but pleasantly bitter. Refreshing and nice.

My Bottom Line :
This spritzy Pils promotes straw-like cereals onto a grassy, spruce-y hop character for a highly flavorful and refined tasting experience.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A sticky head of foam covers the clear pale golden.
-This is yet another world-class lager from Ayinger. Bravo! If only more ratings would come from a tap close to the source, not from bottles exported across the pond…
-The hop finish is long and highly pleasant, emboldened by the dryness.
-Every ingredient is clearly showcased from nose to finish.

On tap at Ayinger Speis und Trank, Munich.

Bottle looks really good, beer in the glass also. Zippy, nice head. Starts mild, modest dry, a bit spicy. Then more and more moldy-grasy, a bit sourish. Mild finish. Not my favourite.

On tap at St. Georg Hotel. Looks good! Great head, nice bubbles. Taste is a little too bitter for me.
