COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

50 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with a huge and long living white head. Aroma is initially is rather dominated by fruity estery and dry phenolic yeast notes. Flavour starts the same way to a dominant bubblegum impression, yet the dark and rich level of malt provides a nice base for the otherwise yeast dominant flavours. Goes more dry and smooth breadish from back of the tongue/nose. Mild acidic/bitter and nice dry roasted malt impression into the far finish.

The Ayinger Ur-Weisse pours as a dark yellow color (not quite gold). The aroma has doughy yeast, light but noticeable hops, and something of a fruity essence. As I sip the beer, it has a pleasant sourness, and I catch more of the strong aroma as well. This is a somewhat harsh beer, but it has a good body. As a whole, I’m quite pleased with this beer from Ayinger!

Overall - just a simple, delicious, fantastic summertime beer. My local BevMo had carried this, then stopped and is now carrying it again. Thank you!

Damn Germans. They can make some fine beer. This one pours a slightly darker amber with a big lasting head. Aroma is typical of the style with some nice yeast and malt notes added. Flavor is also typical with a nice bit of carbonation to dry the mouth and ask for more.
