COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Pour is a cloudy orange brown with a nice one finger head that has fair retention. The aroma of fruit jumps from the glass. It is a nice mix of apricot, peach, and prune. The flavor is also fruit dominated with yeast, malt. Cloves appear late. Smooth, tasty, and aromatic. Delightful!

500 ml bottle. Dark hazy amber color, nice foamy head that dissipates relatively quickly. Aroma of bananas, caramel and cloves, flavor much the same plus some yeast and a hint of citrus. A very nice dunkelweizen, one of my favorites.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2011 500 ml bottle in Germany picked up at Wasanas. Dark golden color with an off white head.Taste is very spicy. Aroma was top banana even for a Hefe. A superior Hefe, one of my top favorites.

500 mL bottle, poured into a weizen glass. Orangish amber color, nice haze, thick beige head. Aroma is standard banana and clove, with a hint of lemon and caramel. Flavor is bananas, vanilla, egg nog, and clove. Similar notes to most other dunkelweizens but it is not fitting together quite right for me compared to the elite versions of the style. Good creamy mouthfeel and good drinkability.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra. Gotta re-rate this one, since the old bottle was definitely old and tasted like shit. Way too light to be a dunkelweizen, but aight. Wheaty all the way through. Much better than the last taste. Actually quite nice.

(Bottle). Slightly sweet banana aroma. Cloudy orange-amber body, very large head. Flavor is sweet, but not cloying, mostly banana and vanilla. Smooth and refreshing. An excellent Weisse.

Bottle. A hazy, orange beer with an off-white head. Banana and caramel on the nose, having company by some cloves. Mostly banana in the mouth, with caramel, yeast and citrus in the background. Quite sweet. The finish has a fine bitterness as well as the initial flavors. Effervescent, dry and full-bodied. A really pleasant dunkelweizen, it doesn’t get much better than this. (080829)
