COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Oh yes, this is what I look in for when it comes to wheat beer. Big banana and wheat aroma and a balanced sweetness in the taste. While this is not too complex I love the creaminess a lot. This must be the best companion to strawberries I have ever had.

(bottle) Pours hazy light brown with a voluminous white head. Aroma of toasted grain, light bubblegum, wheat, and banana. Some bread appears as well. This aroma tends to veer more towards weizenbock territory, although it is far less potent but still nice to smell. Taste is lightly roasted initially, with a nice mid-palate of caramel and plum that yields to a crisp wheat finish that erases all of the sweetness which was originally present. The mouthfeel is medium. This is a very solid beer that doesn’t overly impress, yet doesn’t disappoint either.

Cloudy brown pour with a big creamy tan head that sticks around. Nice aroma of roasted grain and malt, banana and lighter fruit, yeast and spice. Flavor is nice as well, with the wheat, malt and spice really coming through. Soft and refreshing on the palate. A bit of a spicy finish, though nothing overpowering. Very nice overall.

Exciting to finally review something by Ayinger after reading so much about the brewery.... pours a beautiful bright orange-to-brown blend from bottom to top, an almost shadowy hefe... head is thick, pillowy inches that hold nicely in a Schneider Edel-Weisse glass... yeasts are punchy and arresting; something like citrus fruit plays on the nostril with a touch of malt.... smooth, almost laidback presence, with minimal effervescence and the slightest bit of a flourish at the finish--extremely refreshing...surprisingly straightforward in taste: confiedent wheat couples with a fruity acidity and an underlying malt fortification--a flavor that is both unique and undemanding...begins without fanfare, and I wondered what the awe was about...by midglass, I realized how complete a beer this is, conforming body to mouth, taste to thirst and complexity to the style. A perfect August offering.

500ml bottle. My first Dunkelweizen. Pours a cloudy brown color with a good sized tan head. Sweet banana with spice aroma with a tart clean palate. Delicious flavor with banana, wheat & cloves being the major players. Very good.

Rather enjoyed this. A tarty refreshing little number. Typical wheat effervescence, but not overly foamy. Nice sharp mouthfeel, probably a combination of acid CO2 and wheat "bite". Little bit of banana and cloves, but thankfully not cloying. fairly fruity and very little hop coming through from beginning to end. Excellent for the odd refreshing glass or two.

Yeasty rich aroma of bananas, caramel and nuts. Malty with a soft palate. Lots of fruit notes: dried apples, banana and pomegranate and wheat. Soft velvety mouthfeel. Yummers. God I love a good Dunkel.
