3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 GAManiac (1852) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - SEP 20, 2011
500ml bottle.
Pours a murky brownish amber with a big creamy beige head that recedes very slowly to a thick cap of foam, leaving some nice lacing.
Aroma is sweet with lots of wheat presence but with plenty of dark malts as well. There are other sweet fruit notes with apples and pears and a healthy dose of cloves and even some citrus.
Taste is honey-coated bananas with dark roasted malts. It still tastes mostly like an amped up hefe with the yeast dominating though the malts add a nice layer underneath. The finish has a nice mellow spiciness.
The mouthfeel is highly carbonated, very active on the palate, almost too active but it’s OK since the body is pretty meaty for the style.
Another fantastic beer from Aying, who really know their way around a wheat beer. I could drink this all night.

Murky light amber, small white head.Spicy yeast nose.Sweet wheat malt and spicy yeast palate, lightly astringent, fruity overtones
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 flying_pig (267) - SCOTLAND - SEP 9, 2011
Bottle (500ml), purchased & brought home from Germany.
Cloves, banana and wheat along with a little spiciness & some bubble gum. Faint coriander in the background too.
A caramel brown colour, cloudy & forms a 2-finger sized foamy head with good retention.
Lots of banana quickly followed up by mild citrus flavours, a hard to detect toffee flavour and a nice spicy clove taste.
Medium bodied with a refreshing feel to it & a smooth texture overall. Goes down great & even though the carbonation is high the beer isn’t gassy.
Excellent tasting & well balanced that goes down a treat. The colour isn’t as dark as I remember from previous dunkelweizens I have tried but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing as this one still looks (and tastes) fantastic.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 trevor211 (922) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 4, 2011
Pours a cloudy orange-amber, with a giant off-white head. Smells like a tripel! Banana and clove augment honey wheat. Very mild flavor, with an effervescent but weak mouthfeel, brings out bubble gum and intensifies the banana with some apple. Good sunny day brew, but I definitely wouldn’t pick it above most other things...
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Wolfbass (517) - Firenze, ITALY - SEP 3, 2011
Bevuta accompagnando una cena in un pub, mi è sembrata un ottima dunkelweizen, non troppo carbonata va giù e non stufa...
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 deanso (1300) - the Hague, NETHERLANDS - SEP 2, 2011
on tap (I think) at the Ayingers Spies & Trank, Munich
Creamy white head. Cloudy amber pour. Very nice. If you know your German beer types here, go for the German menu. The English version descriptions are misleading
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JStax (692) - Devola, Ohio, USA - AUG 12, 2011
Poured from a bottle into a weizen glass. Appearance is a murky copper with a huge off-white head of foam that leaves thick, splotchy lacing. Aroma is bananas, bubblegum, and some butterscotch. Taste is light, musty, pumpernickel? Yes, definitely pumpernickel bread. Mouthfeel is a light tingle on the tongue and a medium body.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 puboflyons (1111) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 7, 2011
From the 500 ml. bottle. The pour is medium to deep amber, with a bit of a haze, and a tremendous, frothy head. The aroma is bountiful with wheat, spicey clove, and a banana-like fruitiness. Little to no hop character. The body is rich and creamy with a a small cane sugar sweetness balancing out the taste. Perfect for summer.
