3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 darkguardian (713) - Florida, USA - AUG 6, 2011
Pours a burnt amber with plenty of weiss haze. Nose is Light fruit esters, bready malt, and sourdough. Flavor is orange zest, strong wheat character with a lingering malty breadlike quality. Fruity and complex. This is a perfect example of the style. Nothing less than what I have come to expect from Ayinger.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ughsmash (5631) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 4, 2011
Bottled. Poured fiery orange with a dense, well-retained beige head.. looked great in the glass! The aroma picked up sweet banana, other light fruit skins (oranges, apricot, and passion fruit), and sourdough bread.. came together very nicely. The flavor opened with some tart fruit skins, but more grainy, wheaty sugars.. almost cereal-like malts and banana meat at the core.. vanilla and cloves laced throughout.. finished on the sweeter side with lots of grainy sugars. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated on the palate.. again there were a lot of sugars.. I like the way lighter fruits played in there.. overall very good stuff.
3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 watson1977 (947) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 4, 2011
Pours a caramel/tea color with a white head...terrible retention and lacing. Aroma has notable wheat with some subtle clove, bubblegum, dough. Flavor is malty and wheaty...hints of clove and maybe even a bit of caramel but not too sweet...hint of rye?...yeasty. mouthfeel is a bit lively...almost too much for the style...finish is mildly spicy and dry. Fairly disappointing...maybe because my experience is somewhat limited to bolder, craft versions of the style?
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 marcus (3763) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUL 31, 2011
Bottle from Healthy Spirits. Pours cloudy copper with a nice white head and a toffee aroma. Thre is a bready flavor with apple and some spices and a large yeast presence. This is a hearty brew.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 garza (460) - Oslo (NO), Caracas (VE), VENEZUELA - JUL 31, 2011
UPDATED: AUG 4, 2011 Cloudy orange with redish hints in the look. Frothy white and light tan head. Grass, spices, herbs and the hint of something sweet too in the aroma wich is subtle overall. Herbal taste, lightly bitter and lightly sour. Medium body, oily feel, soft carbonation . The herbal hints together with the light bitternes and sourness are present in the after taste. Good for summer days like today!

A neat dunkelweizen. Me likes. (This beer rating was imported from FB and unfortunately lacks any further comments.)

Köpt på Far i Hatten i Malmö. Något lite mörkare än en vanlig hefe-weisse. Doft av deg och hö. Smaken kryddig med antydan av skumbanan
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Bigmmartin (568) - Dayton, Ohio, USA - JUL 3, 2011
Bottle at Chappys Tap Room. This just happened to be the beer that I finally finished the Chappys Beer Club with. I didn’t really plan it that way, but definitely a deserving beer. This beer has amazing color and an insanely beautiful bright white fluffy head that never went away. The best looking weizen that I can recall. The flavor was light, but still full of bread, banana, spices, and was moderately sweet. The palate was incredible as well. Super soft, not overly thin, and very smooth. This is a special beer from an excellent German brewery.
