Light brown colour, smooth, tasty. Very refreshing.

To me, this is better than the other dark wheats I’ve tried, because it isn’t just banana - lots of spice here (RERATE: and then I tried the Aventinus, heh. Still great, just not the best). Rerate 7/13/02: Had another bottle of this; I’ve been drinking a lot of different Hefes recently. While I still like this beer very much, my very positive first impression has been tempered by more experience with German wheats.

This beer rocks. Read the commercial description; it describes this beer to a tee.

Quite generous and nice looking head. It would be cool to do a seven-minute pour with this stuff, you could probably get the head like 6 inches above the glass! A bit lighter in color than most dunkles. Dry wheatiness in the aroma, immensely smooth mouthfeel with some well-balanced maltiness. Hints of complex fruitiness throughout, perhaps apples, pears, slight cloves, and maybe a hint of chocolate. Quite excellent!

Re-rate: 6-28-02 I love all of the Ayinger beers and this is no exception. I’m not a big dunkel weisse fan, but I found this dunkel to be the best tasting dunkel by far.

Brown ice tea-like color, nice head. Yeasty and very fruity nose, very appetizing. Yeasty flavors, light citrusy/wheaty notes. Every beer i’ve had by this brewery is good, nice work.

Wheat, yeast and citrus aroma. Cloudy peach colour, huge creamy head. Great wheat flavour, good bitterness. Nice mouthfeel, lots of carbonation. Very good.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 jskendzel (602) - Washington DC, USA - JUN 24, 2002
A nice dunkelweisse. Typical bananas, cloves, and spice. Good balance and very smooth. Ayinger does a good job, and this is one of my favorite dunkels.

Cloudy brown in color, fruity german bannana-clove yeast.

Okay, this beer has a nice light amber color to it and slight aroma. The head is a medium tan, but it didn’t hold, but I don’t know how long it had been on the shelf. Interesting flavor with a slight tang to it.
