COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

This is an interesting brew. It distinctly smells like fried plantain -- banana and char smoke. Hazy, muddy beer with some green tones. Very cool cap redeems the appearance rating. Sweet, a bit smoky, like watery brown sugar light body, residual sweetness. Can't taste the alcohol. Some phenols in the finish. I fear that I could drink a lot of this in short order. Has gentle homebrew qualities.

Delicious, peppery and spicy aroma, complemented by cloves, a little orange and lemon. Pours with a nice large head, and a deep auburn color. Taste is very peppery, lively, yeast and lemon, wheat. Full palate, very nice.

It strikes you that this is going to be a Bock, with its rich golden color and frothy cream-colored head. But by the nose it has you thinking hefeweizen, with some clove and citrus, though plenty of malt and dry hops as well, with a bready yeasty quality--not always my favorite, in truth. But for flavor and mouthfeel, there is something very rewarding here. With a rich, light corn syrup-like texture, the beer clings to your mouth to impart a front flavor of caramel, bread, Eastern European snacks, and pretzels, with longer notes of citrus, clove, anise, apple, and banana. Nice blend of things. There is something slightly too much "German" for my taste--perhaps too dry at times--but this is still perfectly respectable.

Bottle. Dark malt and murky yeast aroma with faint hints of sweet banana. Cloudy amber-brown pour with a sticky white head. Lightly acidic with citrus and lots of wheat. Fruity with caramel and dark malt. Medium body is crisp and spicy, dry and spicy finish. Very light green apple. Manages to be mild and muddy while avoiding typical DW staleness. Great balanced example of the style!

Great banana clove sweet aroma. Bread. Light hops. Cloudy cider with white foamy lacing head. Medium-high carb in med body. Light sweet start. Light hops & good maltiness. Low bitter. Smooth finish & light tangy after. Nice wheat.

Pours a nice fluffy head that quickly dissipates. Bright, floral, yeast nose - traditional pairing of orange peel and coriander also make an appearance. Malty center, with nice carbonation and a medium mouthfeel. Finish tastes of minerals and simple sugar.

Pours a cloudy dark brown into a Weizen glass. Significant head recedes and leaves no lacing. Banana and clove notes. Apple and banana with a lasting clove finish.
