3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Kinz (2694) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - NOV 24, 2003
Poured a murky, sort of nasty looking brown, with loads of chunky yeast bits swirling about. I usually go for this, but it really did appear kind of nasty. Good head though. Aroma of cloves and apples. Nice yeasty flavor, flavor follows the aroma spot on, maybe a touch of faint banana. Ugly, but nice.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Storm (2685) - Amager, DENMARK - AUG 19, 2006
50 cl bottle. Yeast at the bottom. Muddy dark colour with a nice creamy head. Lovely soft aroma of bread-like, banana and yeast nearly like candy. Great soft flavour too of yeast, wheat and banana taste. Very refreshing and tasty.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Gusler (2655) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - APR 24, 2002
Clear amber color, the head beige, large, frothy, lace in sheets to coat the glass. Nose?, malt, yeast, earthy and aromatic, front? sweet, top?, medium, finish? dry, lightly acidic, touch of hops, moderate to light carbonation, all in all a very drinkable beer.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BillKismet (2653) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 13, 2007
Very foamy and with bronze body. Lovely pungence of yeast with notes of spring and banana in the nose. Enjoyable spiciness dominates, cleaned up by the yeasty green banana finish. Authentic and what one would desire of a German wheat.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DSG (2636) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - SEP 1, 2007
Bottle from a great trade with Koelschtrinker (thanks!). Cloudy light-brown color with a a stable beige head. Aroma of wheat, banana, malt, bread and some caramel. Flavor is sweet with wheat, yeast, fruitiness (banana and some citrus), some toasted malt, and some later acidity. Medium-bodied and maybe a bit too much carbonation going on. Nice stuff.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 willblake (2587) - Bel Air, Maryland, USA - JUN 29, 2004
06.29.04 50cl bottle. Hazy, opaque, iced tea color. White head is medium/small and bubbly. Smells like banana bread, some milk chocolate notes. Bananas are all over flavor, too. Nutty. Very nice, slightly sour finishing acidity. Some fresh, grassy bite, mostly just deliciously malty. Very nice, as are most Ayinger beers.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 nearbeer (2572) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 18, 2007
UPDATED: DEC 16, 2007 1/2 L bottle in pint glass. Huge creamy off-white, lasting head rests on a cloudy, apple-cider colored beer. Aroma is a little banana with citrus and cider. Taste is similar with even less banana, and more peppery, maybe from the high levels of carbonation (not a complaint; the high CO2 level is not overdone, and is nice in this beer). Very thirst quenching, goes down easy and has a smooth palate. Not real heavy; could definitely be a real nice session brew. Unlike some of the other dunkelweizens I have had, swirling the yeast sediment around and pouring it in the glass seems to actually diminish the banana/clove taste and aroma that I like in this kind of beer. I have had better, but to be fair they were on draft in Germany, so this is pretty darn good shipped to the States in a bottle.
