COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Bottle from BBM. This beer is really carbonated with active bubbles. A bubbly white head erupts then slowly fades away to nothing. It’s a very cloudy beer and deep orange in color. Lots of predictable esters are in the aroma, seems well balanced. There are notes of clove, banana, grain and flowers. It transitions into the flavor well. Soft floral notes along with lots of banana and a clove finish are hinted at. It is fair to say there is more caramel character than their standard hefeweizen, but it’s not near as roasty as some other dunkelweizens that I’ve had. I like it.

16.9 oz bottle-An orangish amber with the yeast suspended over the bottom half of the beer. Aroma of caramel, apple, and malt. Taste of this medium bodied brew is the same with a champagne dryness(like their hefe). Not a bad brew but the weizen characteristics are not really pronounced. Still tasty.

Opaque golden-brown, nice foamy white head lasting. Banana, pepper, and wheat rule the sweet nose. Similar flavor, not quite as potent. Palate is a little thin and very short. Too sweet and simple, but this is still somewhat enjoyable.

500 ml bottle @ home. Rated @ 21.5.2010.
Pours a hazy orange brown colour with a foamy white head which settles fast. Aroma of banana, citrus, wheat, spices and yeast. The taste is very straightforward just like a Dunkelweizen should be. Wheat, banana and spices. Medium bodied, a bit watery texture and lively carbonation. Enjoyable.

Notes from St. Line wheat beer tasting 7/30/04, Small white head. Good fruit nose, banannas and apples. Hazy gold/brown color. Medium body, creamy. Good fruit flavor, good maltiness, light spiceyness. Fairly dry finish. A tasty brew.

Location: 500 ml bottle from Gilly’s, 4/6/09

Aroma: Bread-like yeast, fruit - banana, some citrus
Appearance: Very hazy dark gold color, frothy white head
Flavor: Lots of yeasty bread malts, spice, cloves
Palate: Nice mouthfeel, this one is very complex for a wheat
Overall Impression: A really nice wheat beer. The complexity and richness are really nice for the style. Its an excellent example of a style, and a quality warm weather beer.

From 500mL bottle--Poured a medium brown-golden body with a medium-sized white head. Mild fruity complexity that exhibits a nice balance of yeast, malt, wheat, alcohol and hops. Bready and yeasty. Highly carbonated, but finished proper. Well-balanced, exceptional beer.

500ml bottle. Beautiful pour--deep bright cloudy amber--with a foamy off-white head. A treat to look at. Yeast and malt on the nose, with mild fruit (banana, apricot maybe) and a sense of fresh-baked sourdough bread. Similar palate... tickling bubbles on the upper lip and tastes of slightly underripe bananas, fresh bread, yeast. Clean and easy to drink, with a surprisingly crisp finish. I actually wanted a bit of a lingering aftertaste, but almost none is present. Subtle but solid. May cause some to think there’s not much too this beer, but I give it props for its understatement.
