COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2009 Nice label, cloudy in the glass. Good tart aroma. Robust, fresh, nutty taste - I love this flavor which is unique to hefeweizen - a mixture of wheat and a certain type of yeast, perhaps? Notes of citrus and clove. This puts me in the mood for anything between midsummer celebrating to holiday season gatherings, or just sitting by myself at the end of the day, with a little of this liquid reward in my favorite beer glass.

Yeasty nose, but weaker than Brau Weisse. Copper to orange colored body, cloudy, medium white head. Malty flavor, with some banana and yeast flavors.

Murky caramel with a light, fluffy off-white head. Warm banana bread, caramel, spicy clove and cream of wheat cereal. The body is moderate and pleasant. Tasty and refreshing flavor profile. The yeast adds a spicy-type dryness that is unique but pleasant. Not bad.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2007 This Ayinger offering spills into my stemmed glass a rich, hazy copper colour and forms a billowy off-white head, tall and creamy. Strong yeast by-products dominate the aroma in the form of juicy bananas and sweet bubblegum. Behind that impression can be found woodsy, floral hops and a toasted malt accent. The flavour offers significantly more depth, bringing slightly tangy pecans and sweet, creamy apple butter together initially. At the finish is the soft presence of Prince of Whales tea with honey and softly sweet benne wafers. Pleasantly light notes of caramel appear in the aftertaste. Whereas the aroma is soft and sweet, the flavour brings in a building tanginess for balance. The body is suitably full for the style, not so thin as to feel lacking, nor so thick as to prevent refreshment. The creamy texture and fine, champagne-like carbonation aid in the imminent drinkability of this beer.

Pours a cloudy brown with yellow tints (apple cider-ish) with a thick off white head. Aroma was wheat, banana and yeast. Flavour was a malty-wheat with a nice fruity backing. Certainly enjoyable.
