COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

UPDATED: FEB 2, 2008 Cloudy dark brown with light brown, fluffy head. Bready nose. Suprisingly thin bodied. Flavor was even keeled throughout with no dips or climaxes. A nice subdued tartness leaves you wanting more.

500 mL bottle, poured into a weizen glass. Orangish amber color, nice haze, thick beige head. Aroma is standard banana and clove, with a hint of lemon and caramel. Flavor is bananas, vanilla, egg nog, and clove. Similar notes to most other dunkelweizens but it is not fitting together quite right for me compared to the elite versions of the style. Good creamy mouthfeel and good drinkability.

Slightly darker than pale wheats. A fairly sweet finish. Muddyish flavor throughout. Unimpressive.

I have to admit to not being a big fan of the style, but I actually found this one pretty interesting. Looks great in the glass and has a little less of the sweet flavor that I generally find off-putting in the style.

Bottle. Hazy orange in color, aroma of bready yeast. Taste is the same. A little fruity, yeast, bread. Average texture and carbonation. Dunkels are not favorite but this one was enjoyable. I just wouldnt buy it again for some odd reason.

Pours a hazy root beer brown with a large, frothy, beige head that laces well. Huge banana and clove on the nose with a sweet wheaty backing. Light to medium-bodied and slick with a clean mildly dry finish. Sweet wheat malt, banana, apple and cloves with a clean finish. A very nice dunkelweizen.
