COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Any first impressions?
-An initially lofty head dissipates on the hazy amber-brown fire.
-Plump banana esters, red apple peel, mild cloves, and plentiful straightforward yeast leap from the glass.
-Fizzy, expansive carbonation throws the banana sweetness and earthy yeast onto the tastebuds quite directly.

What if you dig deeper?
-Citrusy fruitiness surrounds it all, making it rather quenching.
-Peaches have fallen on the soil.
-Dry, bready yeast takes care of the finish without its many esters.
-The flavor profile is a little too yeast-driven for my tastes, nearly burying the malt, but this is nonetheless a very good dunkelweizen.

Bottle; no date to be read.

Bottle. Pours with a large, creamy barely off-white head with a hazed brown body. Good lace and retention. Aroma is full of banana esters, clove phenols with the yeast, a bit of chocolate, caramel and dark fruits. Taste is watery with chocolate, caramel and clove. Lively to fizzy mouthfeel.

Pours brown with almost no head. Smells of clove, figs, mace, nutmeg. Tastes of allspice, bananas, apple, and peppery. Masterful beer with a thick nearly perfect mouthfeel and a sweet finish.

500ml bottle.
Turbid orange, large thick fairly persistent head, and of course the money shot running down the side of the glass. Rich banana and other esters in the aroma. Big punchy fruity and wheaty taste, with none of the effete spices that sometimes accompany lesser wheat beers. However, despite it’s really solid body, it’s unbelievably refreshing and drinkable. Sod the 5.8% - this has been proven to be a session beer, and a damn good one at that. Few, if any, bottled weizens come close to this, a classic.

Forever lasting white head thrones above the delicate pure amber body. Initially seemingly simple nose: yeasty bananas and cashew nuts. It just grows on you and boasts a great palate, full, creamy with the finest bubbled carbonation, smooth and delicate. Plenty of ripe fruits (Bananas with a capital B, berries, pomegranate, orange, apricots) accompany the perfumey and bready yeast, elegant in itself and unveiling traces of cloves and even rye or grilled marshmallow sweetness rather than straight caramel. Good stuff, very malty, extremely clean with a confident balance. One of the most quaffable (while being pleasant) products I’ve encountered. Thanks Clark!

Cloudy yellow wheat beer. Sour wheat and corn and banana and honey-like malt/yeast combo, and brown sugar grains.. Sharp coriander and cloves, better with some juice or slice of citrus. Thin creamy mouthfeel. Lightly acidic. Mild carbonation. Malt and banana aftertaste.

Bottle from Peace St. Market, Raleigh, NC. Dark straw pour, with combined aromas and tastes of caramel malt, toffee, banana, cloves, and hops. More fruit as it finishes. Nicely done, and another winner from Ayinger.
