COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Bottled. Poured fiery orange with a dense, well-retained beige head.. looked great in the glass! The aroma picked up sweet banana, other light fruit skins (oranges, apricot, and passion fruit), and sourdough bread.. came together very nicely. The flavor opened with some tart fruit skins, but more grainy, wheaty sugars.. almost cereal-like malts and banana meat at the core.. vanilla and cloves laced throughout.. finished on the sweeter side with lots of grainy sugars. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated on the palate.. again there were a lot of sugars.. I like the way lighter fruits played in there.. overall very good stuff.

Bottle. Pours amber-copper with a tall foamy off-white head that mostly dissipates, fast-rising tiny bubbles. Aroma is malty wheat, straw and biscuit, fruit (banana, pear, apricot), yeast (dark dough) and notes of caramel, slightly roasted. Medium sweetness, mild bitterness and acidity, malt and yeast, wheat dough flavor, straw and bananas, slight sour finish. Medium bodied and fizzy palate that is both watery and dry simultaneously.

Hazy dark brown color with a large white head with large bubbles and sticky lacing. The aroma has a wonderfully caramelly sweet malt body with a light hop balance. Notes of fig & pear with the banana/clove german hefe esters. The flavor is creamy with lots of apples and yeast notes. This is a tasty hefe with some solid flavors, just seems a little dumbed down than what was intended though.
