COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Right behind Schneider in the Ur-Weisse style. Cloudy dark amber color this a lasting foamy head. Tends to lean to the more spicy aroma (cloves and slight cinnamon). Some banana phenols as well. Yeast and spice flavors blend well with the wheat and malt sweetness. Finishes quite clean and refreshing.

Bottle and served in my Ayinger Weizen glass: Pours a light chestnut brown with a lovely beige creamy head which left excellent lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of bubblegum, clove, banana, lemon and wheaty weizen vapours along with a roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, walnut and bready dunkel notes. The taste is a very balanced sweet and nutty malt profile with noticeable spicy and fruity undertones. A bit of a mineral and metallic note about the finish but not too distracting. The mouth feel is above average for the genre, a bit oily and chewy with a fair amount of lively carbonation as well. Overall among the better example of the style, shocked I had not rated this before.

Bottle. Complex aroma - hints of peach, clove and cinnamon. Medium tan slightly cloudy with moderate head. Clove flavor up front with banana and orange toward the finish. A good beer but closer to a Hefe.

Light brown color, large head. Aroma is malty with a slight banana nose. Light bodied dunkel. Mild taste, sweet malts, definite banana and clove flavor, slight hop bite. Fruity taste, apples and raisins. Light and refreshing. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is smooth and clean. Aftertaste is malty and slightly sweet.

Bottle (500ml). Hazy, slightly amber gold pour with a large fizzy-fluffy white head. Smells more like a hefe - banana, light apple, sweet malt, yeast and very light floral hops. The taste follows right on, lighter than I expected, a little more grain, lightly toasted, fruity in the finish. Light body, nice soft carbonation, very quick finish, no aftertaste. Refreshing.

500 mL bottle from Wine Warehouse. Cloudy amber pour with a large head. Decent retention and moderate lacing. Very yeasty aroma has notes of banana, pineapple, bread, spice. Similar taste, yeast, wheat, banana, peach. Nicely carbonated, full bodied.

Poured with a large white head, Cloudy dark copper body. Lots of bubbles in my hefe glass. Aroma of lemons, cloves and some bread. The taste is bananas, peaches and watermelon. The background has a touch of cloves. The finish is a little sweet. This is a nice solid and subtle beer. I am glad to see that Ayinger is even in one of my local grocery stores.
