COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

The first thing I noticed after the pour was the great head that stayed with the beer for a while. It was very clear for a wheat, which was unexpected. The aroma was very fruity as was the flavor with a very dry finish. It had a lot of body in the flavor, but the carbonation overpowered it in my opinion. It was a good beer, but I have had better. By the way, I drank this while putting up our family Christmas tree this year, so an early Merry Christmas to you all. (Yeah, I had some SN Celebration Ale too...mmmmmm)

On tap at Ayingers Speis und Trank . Pours a paler brown than other dunkelweizen I’ve had; cloudy caramel rather than dark brown, though still a thick head. The aroma manages to penetrate the head, and there’s malts and a little banana there. Taste up front is banana, with a little chocolate and bread. Finish is spiced dried fruit.

Aroma: malty and grassy; Appearance: hazy amber pour with white head that dissipates slowly; Taste: fairly rich and malty with banana undertones; Palate: medium-heavy body with long, sweet finish; Overall: better than a hefeweizen but still a tad banana-y. Would probably not seek out again.

Bottle from Beerdock, Nantwich. Pours a cloudy amber colour with a foamy white head. Aroma of vanilla, bready malts, banana, clove, some caramel, slight spice and subtle orange. Taste of bready malts, vanilla, banana, spice, some caramel, slight clove, a little wheat and subtle orange zest. Medium bodied and moderate carbonation. A dryish, bready, spicy bitterness in the finish. Not dark and roasty enough to be a dunkelweizen, but as a Weissbier it’s gorgeous. A lovely sweet, vanilla bread aroma followed by a rich, traditional Weissbier flavour with a hint of spice and citrus. Lovely.

bottle. Brown with one finger head. Medium body. Banana and dark fruit. Light cocoa. Very smooth and pleasant. There’s something very German about this, which isn’t surprising -- just a dumb observation.

On tap at the Ayingers Wirtshaus in Munich. Color is dark orange with a creamy head. Aroma is yeasty, wheat malt, and a twist of something dank - in the direction of moldy basement. Taste is bread, banana, apple, and spice. Body is medium to full. Finish is crisp and a touch sweet. Good stuff.

Dark amber, murky and cloudy, but with a big clean white head. Wheaty body, frothy and well carbonated. Lots of bready malt, banana, apple and clove. Very good.
