Exciting to finally review something by Ayinger after reading so much about the brewery.... pours a beautiful bright orange-to-brown blend from bottom to top, an almost shadowy hefe... head is thick, pillowy inches that hold nicely in a Schneider Edel-Weisse glass... yeasts are punchy and arresting; something like citrus fruit plays on the nostril with a touch of malt.... smooth, almost laidback presence, with minimal effervescence and the slightest bit of a flourish at the finish--extremely refreshing...surprisingly straightforward in taste: confiedent wheat couples with a fruity acidity and an underlying malt fortification--a flavor that is both unique and undemanding...begins without fanfare, and I wondered what the awe was about...by midglass, I realized how complete a beer this is, conforming body to mouth, taste to thirst and complexity to the style. A perfect August offering.

Oct 31, 2008 (Bottle). Slightly sweet banana aroma. Cloudy orange-amber body, very large head. Flavor is sweet, but not cloying, mostly banana and vanilla. Smooth and refreshing. An excellent Weisse.

Oct 29, 2008 (bottle) pours a murky orange-brown colour with a frothy, lightly off-white head. aroma of wheat, clove and a light peachy fruitiness. flavour has strong notes of wheat, with more clove, caramel and peaches. medium body, very strong carbonation, dry finish.

Oct 29, 2008 Bottle. A hazy, orange beer with an off-white head. Banana and caramel on the nose, having company by some cloves. Mostly banana in the mouth, with caramel, yeast and citrus in the background. Quite sweet. The finish has a fine bitterness as well as the initial flavors. Effervescent, dry and full-bodied. A really pleasant dunkelweizen, it doesn’t get much better than this. (080829)

Oct 19, 2008 Bottle. Golden- orange colour with an off-white head. Aroma is ripe banana, orange, citrus. Flavour is sweet, ripe banana, coriander, citrus, hint of hop. Nice beer.

does not count  Oct 1, 2008 fair example of a wheat beer, numerous flavors but few standing out above the others. Tastes better as it warms. Do not drink until beer is allowed to breath. I tend to expect just a bit more flavor from Ayinger products.
