4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Dacrza (302) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - AUG 11, 2008
Exciting to finally review something by Ayinger after reading so much about the brewery.... pours a beautiful bright orange-to-brown blend from bottom to top, an almost shadowy hefe... head is thick, pillowy inches that hold nicely in a Schneider Edel-Weisse glass... yeasts are punchy and arresting; something like citrus fruit plays on the nostril with a touch of malt.... smooth, almost laidback presence, with minimal effervescence and the slightest bit of a flourish at the finish--extremely refreshing...surprisingly straightforward in taste: confiedent wheat couples with a fruity acidity and an underlying malt fortification--a flavor that is both unique and undemanding...begins without fanfare, and I wondered what the awe was about...by midglass, I realized how complete a beer this is, conforming body to mouth, taste to thirst and complexity to the style. A perfect August offering.

Amazing beer! I could taste a hint of bananas, citrus, and a whiff of cloves. Beer was so good I bought 8 cases to take camping. People flocked to me over those macro-brews that just don’t cut it.

500ml bottle. Best before 12/11.
It pours a darker hefeweizen color, not quite as dark as a typical dunkelweizen, it is a ur-weisse (traditional/pre-modern weisse) after all. It is cloudy with a foamy, creamy-looking off-white head.
The smell is dominated by bananas with just a hint of clove and wheat.
The flavor continues the banana theme. This is just a banana bomb and then some. There is some clove , some apple, and some lemon, yes but the dominant yeast flavor here is banana. There isn’t much in the way of roasted malt in the taste. There is a slight bit of hops that round it out.
This one is delicous x 10, it is a hot day in Munich today and you would be hard-pressed to find a better thirst-quencher. Screw the strawberry-lime-derpaderp, just let the yeast do it’s thing and you’ll get this.
World-class.

Very murky slight goldish/brown in appearance, similar to an English ale. The aroma is up front wheat grain, then dominated by banana and malts. The flavor is similar to the aroma, dominated by bananas and has a good maltiness. Normally I’m not a dunkelweizen fan but this is incredibly good, par for the course for this brewery.

50cl bottle@Beerland Trilussa. Dark orange with a foamy white lasting head. Aroma of banana (of course!), yeast and bread. Taste is more complex than expected, for I found it fruity, spicy, pleasant but cannot say more. You only have to enjoy it.

One of the most delicious things I have ever tasted. Quite complex and still refreshing as some lighter wheat beers. Wonderful banana clove and fruity ester aromas, super complex but not overwhelming. Would go great with many foods.

Pours out a dark gold/orange, lighter than other dunkels I’ve had but certainly darker than a hefeweizen. Smells of bananas with a hint of caramel sweetness. Has a nice caramel flavor to go with the typical banana of a wheat beer, sort of like a Bananas Foster in a glass, best dunkelweizen I’ve had
