COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

500ml bottle. Amber/Brown hazy appearance, thick head. Banana/caramel/floral overtones... citrusy, nutty, malty. This is the kind of beer I love to drink, top notch!

Bottled. Poured fiery orange with a dense, well-retained beige head.. looked great in the glass! The aroma picked up sweet banana, other light fruit skins (oranges, apricot, and passion fruit), and sourdough bread.. came together very nicely. The flavor opened with some tart fruit skins, but more grainy, wheaty sugars.. almost cereal-like malts and banana meat at the core.. vanilla and cloves laced throughout.. finished on the sweeter side with lots of grainy sugars. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated on the palate.. again there were a lot of sugars.. I like the way lighter fruits played in there.. overall very good stuff.

Extreme cloudiness. Bread pudding colored pour with some bubbles.. .totally opaque with a medium white sudsy head. Smells great, like a hefe but with a little bit of nuttiness to balance out that banana sweetness. Palate is extremely light... unbelievable for how thick and sticky it looks. The carbonation sizzles a little bit, really interesting. Sticky toffee flavor, lots of clove, some yeast, very strange finish... like fresh squeezed apples.

Bottle @ home.
Hazy medium amber orange color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, wheat, moderate yeasty, banana, rubber, toffee. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet with a long to average duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - smooth, carbonation is soft. (050508)

A decent weizen, with nice color and head and decent flavor, although it could be a little more complex. Overall, a good beer.

Bottle. Deep copper in color with the usual cloudiness of a wheat beer. Aroma is fruity (specially banana). Flavor is fresh with the same bananas coming through and finishes with a slight wheat taste at the back of the throat.
