COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

reddiosh opaque, rusty brown. Huge, thick white head. Ester qualities emerge immediately and prevalently. Citrucy and light for an Ur. MAlty and rich. a very lively palate brings on some toasty malt character and subdued fruitiness and hop presence. somewhat noticeable alcohol on finish brings out the phenolitic quality. Light and refreshing with a solid alcohol punch, I think its a good summer ur-weisse.

A full bodied hefeweizen. Dark brown with a very large cream colored head. Powerful wheat aroma. Wheat, citrus, banana, and herbs in the flavor. Good.

Bottle courtesy of Plucier: Poured a dirty and cloudy dark beige color beer with a huge foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of banana bread is very dominant and enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by the banana bread with some ester notes. Body is above average with some great carbonation. This is definitely a style that I don’t have a chance to try very often but thought was very interesting but maybe a bit one-dimensional.

excellent specimen, looks like murky apricot nectar, one of the nicest creamiest heads ever. banana and clove in nose and mouth, very nice body for a weisse

Pours darker than any weisse I've had so far. Head dissipates quickly, but enough remains to be attractive. Strong malt aroma with some wheat evident. Interesting taste. Strong malt/wheat taste up front. Some bananna, bread, yeast maybe pear come at me the strongest before the finish. Finish is clean. A surpsingly complex weiss. Damn near as good as weihenstephaner in my opinion.

Bottle. Pours amber-copper with a tall foamy off-white head that mostly dissipates, fast-rising tiny bubbles. Aroma is malty wheat, straw and biscuit, fruit (banana, pear, apricot), yeast (dark dough) and notes of caramel, slightly roasted. Medium sweetness, mild bitterness and acidity, malt and yeast, wheat dough flavor, straw and bananas, slight sour finish. Medium bodied and fizzy palate that is both watery and dry simultaneously.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2004 On tap. Orange/brown cloudy with nice large head. Smells yeasty/malty. Sweet malt and yeast flavor. Slight hint of sweet fruit and cloves. Banana really comes out asis warms. Good stuff.
