Commercial Description:
The recipe for this beer goes right back to monastery traditions. The complex triple mash process using four types of malt gives the dark “doppelbock” its characteristic malty dominance and its close to black color. The storage time of 16 weeks produces a pronounced, well-rounded taste. Despite a high original wort content, the sweetness that is frequently present with doppelbocks can scarcely be detected. The first taste is of mild fullness with an accompanying coffee tone, which becomes more dominant with the aftertaste. Between November and January you can allow yourself to be completely won over by the excellent quality of the Winterbock.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel, straw, and malt, as well as hints of alcohol. The flavor is very sweet with notes of caramel and alcohol, which burns slightly in the throat, leading to a dry bitter and alcoholic finish.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of tbone_. Pours a clear, dark, orangey brown with a beige head. Fat, sweetish aroma of roasted malt and overripe fruit. Very full-bodied with sweet notes of caramel and overripe fruit. A slightly oxidized edge without being faulty as such. Solid German bittering hops in the finish. 201107

50 cL bottle. Pours see-though brown and reddish, has a lacing brown head. Roasted malt, sweet and with a mild fruity tone. Flavour is sweet with a heavy bredish and roasted tone. Has a very oldish fruity note, but it works out nicely. Finish holds a hardroasted malt flavour.

Medium bodied, rather sweet, a bit chocolatey. Not malty enough for my liking. Slightly metallic. I’m not impressed.

Bottle. Clear medium red / brown color with a average frothy fair lacing off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, burnt, chocolate dark, coffe strong, light yeasty, licorice. Flavor is moderato to heavy sweet and mderate bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. Very nice ;o))

’Bottled. Very dark amber/blac kcolour, huge longlasting brownish beige head. Not much aroma except for sweet caramel, almost barley wineish. Flavour is malty with roast and a bit soap. Also some hints of dark chocolate and block coffee in it, especially in finish and aftertaste. A bit sticky palate.

Full of dark malt, chocolate and toffee flavours and a long finish.
