Deep reddish brown with a small tanned head that dissipates quickly and barely leaves any lacings.
The aroma is filled with layers of malts - sweet caramel, toffee, milk chocolate and rye bread - and a decently integrated layer of German style leafy and herbal hops.
The smell makes me think "German Scotch Ale), but with the taste, we’re back in bock-country. It’s stil very malty, but more bready and toasty rather than caramel-like. Not too sweet flavor actually. Some notes of toffee though. Some leafy hops that get accentuated in the finish which is mildly bitter with some herbal notes, gentle spicy hops and stale bread.
The body is somewhere around medium, quite a lot of carbonation and actually semi-dry in the finish.
A good beer. The flavor is not as complex and layered as the smell, which is a bit of a letdown. rmasa (125), Vantaa, Finland
